Group C was really hotting up as we entered Round 5. Match 10 of the group was Fireball against CIS Committee. Fireball had three draws to their name so far and you felt they may have rued some of those draws and been disappointed at not taking victories. In this game though, if you offered them a draw before kick-off they probably would have taken it.

CIS Committee was on 9 points, had a 100% win record, had scored 10 goals and were still to concede a goal. They continued that form again in the opening period here with Aliaksandr Chaikouski, Ihar Scherbich and Vitali Ledenev goals helping them to a 3-1 lead. Jakub Racek had the honour of being the first man of the day to breach the CIS Committee defence.

After the break, there was a bit of a scare for CIS Committee. Although Vitali Ledenev scored his second of the game goals from Bohuslav Sip and Miroslav Sloboda pulled it back to 4-3. Was this going to be a sensational fourth draw of the competition? Sadly for Fireball it was not as CIS Committee saw the game out for a 4-3 win. Their 100% record was intact – just!

It was a great performance from Fireball and they must have been scratching their heads as to how they only had 3 points from 4 games.

Tommie's Guns and Saga Louts were next in action on Pitch D in front of the watching galleries and in desperate need of three points. A win for either would see them rise to third position in the table and advance their hopes of Plate qualification.

Tommie's Guns had started off in solid fashion with two draws but defeat last time out looked like being followed by another defeat as they found themselves 3-1 down at half-time. Paul James, Matt Johnson and Chris Weedon were all on target for the Saga Louts. A goal from Gavin Hardy kept Tommie's Guns in it.

Tommie's Guns reduced the deficit to 3-2 in the second half when Chris Vernall scored his second of the day but Jason Carr was on hand to restore the Saga Louts two goal advantage at 4-2. There was no way back this time for Tommie's Guns.

It was a great win for Saga Louts and they were the big winners of Round 4 climbing from sixth position to third in the table.

That left us with the final two teams yet to play their fourth fixture – The Spider Mans and Eagle FC and Murder on Zidanes Floor. It was becoming crunch time in Group D and a win here for The Spider Mans and Eagle would guarantee Cup football this afternoon. With the result above, Murder on Zidanes Floor had slipped to sixth but a win here could see them move into third position and only a point behind their opponents in second place. There were currently fine margins in this group.

Murder on Zidanes Floor broke the deadlock and they lead going into half-time courtesy of a Max Eagle goal. The Spider Mans and Eagle FC hit back after the interval and it was Steve Wildman on the mark twice but his goals would not be enough to earn three points as George Hulley struck a second for Murder on Zidane Floor.

Group D was witness to yet another draw and it was a third in four games for Murder on Zidane Floor. The result meant Cup qualification was now beyond them. The result was not the end of the world for The Spider Mans and Eagle FC as, although they could no longer catch CIS Committee at the top, they were only one point away from securing safe passage into the Cup competition.
