The start of Round 3 saw two of the top three teams in action as Budapest Celtic Lions entertained Slovakia. Both these teams were hitherto unbeaten and in the case of the team from Hungary – held a 100% record. This was the most pivotal game of Group B so far with high rewards for the victors if either of these teams could pull off a victory.

After the opening exchanges it was Slovakia who held the advantage as they took a 1-0 lead into the interval. Adam Kovac's goal ensured they would hold a lead at half-time for the first time in today's tournament.

Budapest Celtic Lions, winners in Krakow 12 months ago, had their work cut out to get back into the game and preserve their unbeaten record let alone their 100% record. Try as they might they were unable to force a way past Martin Priganc in the Slovakia goal. His clean sheet helped ensure a fine 1-0 victory.

We had new leaders in Group B although there was still plenty of football yet to play and Budapest Celtic Lions were still in a very good position with two games to come.

Los Langeros versus Shrewsbury Townsend was the next game on Pitch B and was a battle between the 2nd and 4th placed teams. After a resounding 5-0 win last time out, Shrewsbury Townsend were looking to make it two wins out of two that would see them go joint top of Group B.

Los Langeros started well with a 4-1 win but had recently been defeated by Budapest Celtic Lions. There was certainly no shame in going down narrowly (2-1) to a previous eurofootballfives.com winner and they should still have confidence going into this fixture.

With the momentum from Round 2, it was Shrewsbury Townsend who struck first with Matt Horne getting on the scoresheet for the second time in three games. His goal meant Shrewsbury Townsend had a 1-0 lead at the break just as they did last time out.

In Round 2 Shrewsbury Townsend turned 1-0 at half-time into 5-0 at full-time but Los Langeros were certainly not going to let that happen. They were playing very well and Liam Dorgan restored parity for the Irish team when Liam Dorgan converted for 1-1.

The sands of time ran out and it was one point each for these two teams. The draw was not the worst result in the world as they remained two points and three points off the top respectively….they just had one game less to narrow the gap.

To complete Round 3 we had Lads on Tour versus The El Dude Brothers. As things currently stood this was a basement battle with both teams looking for their first points of the day. A win here could change their fortunes though.

We discussed in Round 2 that it was a little bit of déjà vu for The El Dude Brothers as their form for Bratisalva 2014 was following a similar pattern to their results in Berlin 2013. If this was to continue then the Pools panel could put this down as a score draw.

On the pitch though, The El Dude Brothers could do much better than a score draw. They opened the scoring through Ben Moist and never looked back. Hazh Khalili doubled the advantage before half-time and they were on course for the win. Ben Moist grabbed his second of the game in the second half before Alistair McIntyre scored his second of the day to complete a rousing victory.

The win put The El Dude Brothers on three points and within touching distance of the sides above them. It was looking ominous for Lads on Tour as they were being cut adrift at the foot of the table.
