Group C began with Return of the Dancing Horses III versus Bede FC.

Return of the Dancing Horses III made their debut in the 2011 Barca Fives and had quite a baptism of fire when they went down 4-0 to the silky skills of Japanese team, Samurai Japan. Thereafter they were pretty unlucky with four consecutive 1-0 defeats against some strong opponents such as HMS Sultan (Plate Winners) and El A Dees (Runners-Up in the 2012 Amsterdam Fives Cup competition). Their last appearance was at the 2012 Krakow Trophy where they topped Group C with a 100% record scoring 10 goals and conceding 0 in the process. A Golden Goal win in the Cup QF saw them progress to the Semi-Finals where they lost narrowly 1-0 to eventual champions (and 2011 Valencia Fives winners) Skidmarks.

Return of the Dancing Horses carried on from where they left off in the Krakow group phase as they galloped into a 3-0 first half lead over Bede FC (more on them later). The Dancing Horses were in Amsterdam to celebrate the stag weekend of Craig Harrison and it was fitting that he began the day with a first-half hat-trick.

In the second half Matthew Spence and Liam Apicella made it 4-0 and 5-0 respectively and it was a sensational start for them.

ADP Netherlands were in action next when they took on St Paul's College Old Boys.

ADP Netherlands were playing their first eurofootballfives.com tournament in their home nation following a debut at the 2013 Barcelona Fives. In Barcelona they had two teams with their most successful squad claiming victory in Group A before a penalty shoot-out exit in the Quarter-Finals. They also boasted the tournament top goalscorer as Jan Van Rabenswaiij won the award with 7 goals on the day. They will also be competing in the 2014 Barcelona Fives so a win in Amsterdam would be the perfect warm-up!

A win did not likely in their opening game as they trailed 2-0 to St Paul's College Old Boys (we'll introduce them more fully in Round 2) at half-time. There was a brace for James West to set the English team on their way. There was no addition to the score in the second half and St Paul's College Old Boys were off and running with a victory.

The next game in Group C was Playing Against Cancer FC (Hol) versus Melee FC (EnG). The Dutch team was making its debut so it's difficult to preview them in too much detail but we did know about Melee FC.

Melee FC played in the 2013 Barcelona Fives and were drawn in the same group as ADP Netherlands. They finished level on points with the Dutch team but finished second on goal difference. Their haul of 9 points (from a possible 12) saw them qualify for the Cup where they defeated Club Tropicana Drinks FC in the QF and Sporting Gingham in the SF. The Cup Final was a very close affair but unfortunately for Melee FC they finished runners-up to Los Swallacticos of Northern Ireland.

They looked to be putting that disappointment behind them as they took no time at all in opening up a 5-0 lead by half-time. When the full-time whistle blew they had extended their lead to 7-0 and topped the embryonic table on goal difference. Chris Pilsbury took full advantage to score four, David Stothard scored twice and there was also a goal for Kevin Lewis.
