Next
up was RFM, a multinational team representing
the Netherlands, against Unathletico Madrid
of England…..the sister squad of FC Copenbadly.
RFM
entered two squads into the 2009 Amsterdam Fives
under the names Tom Tom One and Tom Tom Go.
The two squads had mixed fortunes on the day
with one squad making the Cup Semi-Finals before
going out to the eventual winners, Bull Heads,
and the other squad narrowly coming runners-up
in the Plate Final to Plate specialists the
CSF. In 2010, they finished 5th in their 6 team
group to miss out on the knock-out stages. They
come back with a vengeance in 2011 when they
went all the way through to the Cup Semi-Finals
before going out to Athletico Do Hollande. In
their last attempt in 2012 they finished 3 rd
in their 6-team group to qualify for the Plate
competition where their run ended in the Semi-Finals.
Unathletico
Madrid were on debut so had no pedigree in our
tournaments yet but had the chance to show us
what they were made of as they stepped on to
the field of the play for the first time. They
gave as good as they got in the first period
and it was 0-0 at half-time. The second half
followed the same pattern and we finished at
0-0. A solid opening point for each team.
