Group B began with Westfield Wanderers of England on debut versus Policia Vets of Spain.

Policia Vets were making their debut in our Veteran's category. As Policia Local de Mallorca, they won our first ever Mallorca Tournament (2011) when they defeated Ecuador's Quayaquil 100% in an entertaining final, 5-2. In 2012 they found the competition tougher finishing 3rd in their group behind Sportsman Arenal and FC Radbroke (2011 Prague Masters and 2013 Algarve Open winners). They then went out 2-0 in the Cup Quarter-Finals, in a quirk of fate, as they drew Sportsman Arenal again. In the 2013 Mallorca Fives in May they failed to qualify for the Cup for the first time and went out in the Plate Semi-Finals. In the 2013 Mallorca Tournament they regained their form winning Group B but were seen off in the Cup Quarter-Finals by a stag team – Tommy's Tits.

The reputation didn't seem to worry Westfield Wanderers as they forged a 1-0 half-time lead courtesy of Aaron Dix. In the second half Antonio Bullon equalised for Policia Vets and then turned the tables completely to fire Policia 2-1 ahead. He went on to complete a hat-trick as Policia Vets finished 3-1 winners after a sensational second half comeback.

Match 2 saw Old Bromleians make their eurofootballfives.com debut. They were to €agles 3:36 who were certainly no strangers to eurofootballfives.com competition.

€agles 3:36 are the artists formally known as New Milton Eagles. They will make their debut in our Veterans Tournament this year but have made their mark on our regular tournaments in the past. They have celebrated Plate glory on two occasions. The first win was when they made their debut with us at the 2010 Krakow Trophy when the Eagles Old Boys beat 5-times Plate Finalists DHL Prague Red of the Czech Republic 2-0 on penalties in the final. The second win was in the 2011 Algarve Open when Eagles UnAthletic beat Pimp My Side FC 2-1 in the final. Last year in Budapest they competed in our Plate Champion of Champions event where they finished 6th overall.

€agles 3:36 made their experience count as goals from Craig Chandler, Julian Smith and Martin Church secured a 4-0 win.

The final team in Group B to start their challenge was Sitges - the third successive home team to be on debut. Their opposition, Westfield Wanderers, now had a game under their belts.

Westfield Wanderers started well in the opening period before eventually being overturned. In this one they started well again – better in fact. Instead of taking a 1-0 lead into the break they had earned a 3-0 lead in this fixture. It would take one hell of a comeback for Sitges to overturn this the way Policia Vets did.

In this game Westfield Wanderers consolidated their position and even went on to extend their lead to 4-0 and wrap up all 3 points in style. There was a goal for Aaron Dix (2 goals in 2 games for him) plus a double for Sam Gurner adding to a James Barter strike.

The result put Westfield Wanderers in mid-table and with two games to go were well placed in Group B.

Policia Vets were next in action on Group D looking to make it two wins in two games when they faced Old Bromleians. Having lost their opening game this was probably the last fixture Old Bromleians needed.

The first half was pretty close and there was little to choose between the two teams but Policia Vets had that little bit extra to go into the break a goal to the good. Jose Manuel Delfa putting the local team 1-0 up.

Could Old Bromleians stage a comeback? It wasn't going to be easy and when Antonio Bullon made it 2-0 the task got even more difficult. Bullon had certainly brought his shooting boots with him as he added another to make it 3-0. That was his fifth goal in two games as he emerged as an early challenger for the Top Goalscorer award. Tomas Garcia wrapped up a 4-0 win that saw Policia Vets go top.

Next up was €agles 3:36 against Sitges. €agles 3:36 had the opportunity to join Policia Vets at the top if they could maintain a perfect start to the tournament. They faced a team who had suffered opening game defeat and would look to turn the screw against a team languishing in the lower reaches of the early group table.

Having lost 4-0 in their first game, Sitges were much improved here and gave €agles 3:36 a good contest. The two teams went into the break at half-time as a Victor goal for Sitges and Julian Smith goal for the €agles cancelled each other out.

You sensed that €agles may consider it dropped points if they were unable to fashion a victory in this game and they always looked the more likely to grab a second and so it proved when Richard Parsons struck the third goal of the game. It was the final goal of the game and €agles had won it 2-1.

It was a vital goal that put them joint top. There were seeds of optimism for Sitges.
