The 2014 Mallorca Tournament Plate Final would be contested by Athletic 8 Minute Bilbao (Eng) and Brioche (Spa).

As we saw in the Plate Semi-Finals, Athletic 8Minute Bilbao were due a victory to continue their progressing trend in Plate competitions. Their Runner-Up medals at the 2013 Barcelona Fives presentation would hope to be replaced by Winners medals here in Mallorca.

Bricohe were on debut and riding the crest of a wave at the moment. After a slow start they had won three successive games and had won them in convincing fashion with fast starts virtually clinching victories in the opening halves of games.

There was to be no fast start this time as Athletic 8Minute Bilbao and Brioche matched each other blow for blow. Even when Brioche broke the deadlock through Pedro Sanchez Lopez the goal was quickly cancelled out by 8Minute Bilbao.

Brioche restored their lead, 2-1, as Pedro Sanchez Lopez scored again. Could Athletic 8Minute Bilbao respond again? Time was quickly working against them and the game became more stretched. At the death, Jose Carlos Guillen Garcia made it 3-1 and sealed their victory.

For the County (Re)United stable it was a second Plate Final and a second loss in as many tournaments but we are sure there are winners medals and trophies waiting for them one day soon.
