The Wooden Spoon was a chance for those teams who had finished their groups in 5th place to have a shot at redemption, a second chance and a chance to prolong their Mallorca Tournament experience.

To kick us off on Pitch A we had Paris St Gentleman versus Taylor's Tigers. The two teams were unable to register points in the group phase but the slate was wiped clean for the knock-out phase and it was Paris St Gentleman who took full advantage.

They opened up a 2-0 lead and never looked back going from strength to strength to secure a resounding 6-0 win. Dave Cotterell, Simon Debney and Colum Ferguson (2) all scored their first goals of the day and Danny Jones added two goals to his tally. Paris St Gentleman stormed into the Wooden Spoon Final.

For Taylor's Tigers the day was over but they had their other teams to cheer on in the Cup competition and the second Wooden Spoon Semi-Final.

The second Semi-Final was an encounter between Whiteley FC and Taylor's Tits. The first Semi-Final had extinguished hopes of an “all-Taylor” Wooden Spoon Final but there could be “Taylor” representation if they could produce a win. Whiteley FC would arguably be favourites for the tie as they were the only team of the four Semi-Finalists to collect a victory in the group phase.

They started the game well too as Lewis Sommervill put Whitely FC ahead and they lead 1-0 at half-time. After the break we were back on level terms as Phil Graveling continued his good run of form with his third goal in three games to bring us level at 1-1. It got even better for Taylor's Tits when Matthew Mynett put them 2-1 up.

Taylor's Tits saw the game out and they had their first win of the day and were on their way to a European Final. For Whiteley FC it was a disappointing end to a day that had started with so much promise and a fine victory. It was not to be though – as always though it was great to see Whiteley FC compete in Mallorca.
