Round 3 started with Palma Select versus Taylor's Tits. It was very tight at the top and Palma Select had a chance to lay down the gauntlet to their Group D opponents with a win. Taylor's Tits had struggled in their opening two games so would start this game very much as the underdogs.

It was first blood to Palma Select as Misho Gechev put them ahead in the first-half. It was an improved performance from Taylor's Tits as they looked to grow into this tournament and their efforts were rewarded with a first goal of the day as Phil Graveling opened their account in Europe. Sadly for Taylor's Tits it would not be enough to earn them some points as Ilyan Torchev and Manol Bebev goals ensured it would be a 3-1 victory to Palma Select.

Palma Select moved on to 7 points and they opened up a three point lead at the top of the table. It was now up to The A Team and FC Dynamoes to match their result. For Taylor's Tits it was another defeat but a progressive result and performace to give them something to build on.

The A Team and FC Dynamoes came face-to-face in the next fixture in what would be one of the crucial fixtures in Group D. With Palma Select winning above the pressure was on these two to avoid losing ground in the title race. A win for either would see them join Palma Select at the top with the loser struggling to make the Cup. A draw would leave both with much to do going into their final games.

It did not start well for the French team as FC Dynamoes forged ahead with two goals from John Stead. It was 2-0 at half-time and The A Team now had their work cut out. Their task got even harded when Jon Stead completed his second hat-trick in three games to put them on course for victory. It was not all one-way traffic though as Abdou and Dydynho put them back in the hunt but FC Dynamoes had done enough, 3-2.

Jon Stead had now scored 7 goals in 3 games and the Lisbon top goalscorer was emerging as a contender for the Mallorca honours.

Athletic 8Minute Bilbao were 6 points off top but 3 points off 3rd and they had two games to go. Despite a return of 1 point from a possible 6 they were on course for the Plate but with an outside chance of the Cup if they could secure maximum points in their remaining fixtures. For Taylor's Tits it was a last chance to secure points in the group phase. A win for them would see them move above Athletic 8Minute Bilbao and into 4th – a place in the Plate was up for grabs.

Athletic 8Minute Bilbao lead at half-time but it was a slender 1-0 lead. After the break Phil Graveling made it two goals in two games but alas for him it was again to prove a consolation goal as Athletic 8Minite Bilbao edged it 2-1. Goals from Mark Arthur and Paul Sanders secured the three points for them.

The win kept Athletic 8 Minute Bilbao's hopes alive for the Cup but consigned an improving Taylor's Tits to the Wooden Spoon competition.

Game 9 of Group D would be the title showdown between Palma Select and FC Dynamoes. A draw would see both teams qualify for the Cup with FC Dynamoes taking the title on goal difference. There was never a suggestion that there might be an Austria-Germany style agreement to settle for the draw as national pride meant both teams wanted the victory. Not only would it mean a win in this game but the Group title was up for grabs and, in theory, a potentially easier Cup Quarter-Final title.

If there was to be a winner it would open the door for the A Team and Athletic 8Minute Bilbao to potentially steal 2nd place and a Cup place from the losing side.

At half-time we were all level at 0-0 and it wasn't looking good for the A Team and Athletic 8Minute Bilbao. A goal from Dominic Meadowcroft put FC Dynamoes ahead after the break and there were 3 teams to be cheerful but not Palma Select. Their position was now looking vulnerable. The Spanish team had a sting in the tail for their French/English opponents as Stoyko Dimitrov equalized with the last kick of the game. Final score, 1-1.

The result would see FC Dynamoes win the group and Palma Select join them in the Cup.

The above result extinguished Cup qualification hopes for the A Team and Athletic 8Minute Bilbao. The two teams would meet in the final game of Group D. Both teams were already guaranteed to make the Plate but, as with the game above, we had national pride to play for and 3rd place was up for grabs and all that means in terms of securing a better Quarter-Final draw. It was winner takes all as the teams were level on 4 points going into the game. Should this game finish level it would be the A Team to take 3rd place courtesy of goal difference.

Group D was certainly the tightest and most competitive group we'd had today. There was very little between the top four teams and that was evident in this game. The two teams were unable to be separated at half-time (1-1) and unable to be separated at full-time (2-2).

Paul Sanders grabbed a double for Athletic 8Minute Bilbao taking his tournament tally to 3 goals. Abdou and Jeanco scored the goals for the A Team.
