The
game that brought us to the halfway stage of Group
D was Athletic 8Minute Bilbao and FC Dynamoes.
FC Dynamoes had started off in fine form notching
up a commanding victory. If they could match that
in this game then they would go to the top of
the table. For Athletic 8Minute Bilbao it was
an opportunity to avenge an opening game defeat.
It
started off well for Athleitc 8Minute Bilbao as
Mark Arthur put them ahead. Tom Duerden pulled
FC Dynamoes level for 1-1 and at half-time it
was game on.
In
the second half, FC Dynamoes turned the game around
and took the lead through John Stead. You could
be forgiven for thinking they would be on their
way to two opening game victories (just like Lisbon
2013) but Athletic 8Minute Bilbao had other ideas
as a Mark Robinson thunderbolt meant the points
were shared in a 2-2 draw.
It
was a great game and a result that put FC Dynamoes
in a three-way tie at the top of the group. Athletic
8Minute Bilbao had their first point of the day
and could use this as a springboard to climb up
the Group D table.
