Group C was really hotting up as we entered Round 4. Match 10 of the group promised to be an intriguing encounter between Scoregasm and ZVC Indoor Gent. If Scoregasm wanted to qualify for the Cup for the third consecutive @eurofootball5 appearance they had to get something out of this game. To be one of the best third placed teams you usually had to have 7 points or more (although 8 points had missed out in past tournaments) so they needed at least a point but ideally a win.

ZVC Indoor Gent were virtually guaranteed a Cup place at this stage but qualification alone was not their goal. They would be looking to progress in style as Group C champions and were in a dogfight with Pelugueria Mariano for that honour – they needed the points too.

It was Scoregasm who got off to the perfect start though as Shane James struck to give them the lead. It was a vital goal at a vital time but unfortunately for them they were unable to keep the lead due to a Korneel Vanderheyden strike before the interval.

At 1-1 the game was back in the balance and you always felt the next goal (if there was to be one) would be crucial. Valentin Van Hoecke found the perfect moment to score his first goal of the day to put ZVC Indoor Gent ahead. The comeback was complete when Michael Ingels made it 3-1. ZVC Indoor Gent had shown they could win from the front and now showed they could win from behind.

It was a massive blow for Scoregasm who had an outside shot at qualification if they could win their final game but it looked like they would probably be in the Plate this afternoon.

The game that would take us into the final round of fixtures would be Seleccion Balear versus The Drip Trays. As things currently stood we had ZVC Indoor Gent and Pelugueria Mariano on 12 points with three teams in joint third on three points – Seleccion Balear and The Drip Trays were two of these teams. A win for either would put them in pole position to take third position in Group C.

The Drip Trays had already played the top two and just earned their first win over a good Scoregasm side. With a game against Contejus Hurricanes to come this was a great opportunity for The Drip Trays to win and stake a claim for a place in the Cup.

Seleccion Balear would clearly have other ideas though and it was they who took the game by the scruff of the neck and Juan Garcia in particular as he opened the scoring for the Spanish team. Angel Segura then scored his first of the day to make it 2-0 to the local team at the break.

Two goals in the first half were followed by two goals in the second half as Seleccion Balear showed no mercy in a ruthless performance. Juan Garcia scored both goals after the interval to complete a hat-trick as Seleccion Balear took charge of third place.

It was a shame for The Drip Trays as it was probably their least impressive performance of the morning at just the wrong time. They sat in joint 4 th position but ahead of Scoregasm due to their head-to-head victory over their fellow Englishmen.
