With their first games under their belts it was Round 2 for all the teams in Group A and time to settle in to the tournament.

Son Gual were making their fifth appearance at the Mallorca Tournament. They had a tough introduction at the 2012 Mallorca Tournament as they were drawn in a group with 2 previous eurofootballfives.com winners (2 x winners Inter Women and 4 x winners Olympic Phil Babb). They finished 4th in their 6 team group to qualify for the Plate Quarter-Finals where they exited 4-2 at the hands of Whiteley Stags. In the Mallorca Fives of May 2013 they also finished 4th in a group that contained 2 previous eurofootballfives.com winners (Skidmarks and Policia Mallorca) and went on to the Plate competition – which they won! They followed this up at the Mallorca Tournament of June 2013 by finishing 3rd in their 6-team group. They qualified for the Plate again and won their Quarter-Final 4-2 against Whiteley Bad Boys before a 2-1 Semi-Final defeat to Have Ago Heroes. Their most recent performance in June 2014 saw them finish 4th in their group and a 3-1 Plate Quarter-Final defeat to Brioche.

Here in 2015 they had started with a win and were looking to build on that start against Wrexham Rednecks. Son Gual were on course when Darius game them a 1-0 lead. The Welsh team had lost their first game and were aiming to bounce back and things looked brighter for them when they made it 1-1 through Gareth Hill.

In the second half Welsh hopes were dashed as Darius scored his fourth goal in the opening two games to secure all 3 points for Son Gual who had made a superb start to the tournament.

Next up on Pitch A was La Briocha versus Centrale Paris FC . For the second game in Round 2 we had a first round victor versus a second round losing team. In the previous match we saw the victor keep up a 100% record and La Briocha would hope to emulate the feat of Son Gual to make it a Spanish 1-2 at the top of Group A.

Centrale Paris was obviously hoping to prevent that and kick-start their campaign with a point at worst and a win at best. They had never lost their opening two games in eurofootballfives.com competition so would want to avoid making unwanted history.

The game did not start well for the French team as they conceded the first goal of the match. Luis Agustin Castro put La Briocha 1-0 up and the Spanish team maintained the lead until the half-time whistle. 1-0 at half-time became 1-0 at full-time as La Briocha moved on to a maximum 6 points.

Centrale Paris could still qualify for the Cup despite two defeats but they would now need to win their final 3 games.

To complete Round 2 we had 2Goals1Cup versus The Undatables. This completed the theme of Round 2 whereby we saw first game victors taking on a losing team from Round 1. Thus far things had gone the way of the first round victors and a gap was opening between those at the top and those at the bottom. A second win for The Undatables would make this very much a two-tier group.

2Goals1Cup would clearly be determined for that not to happen and a win for them would see them join their opponents on 3 points and occupy the mid-table positions in Group A. It was an even first half and the two defences were on top as we reached the turnaround level at 0-0.

The Undatables had not conceded in three halves of football so far today but they would not increase that record to four as Russ Thornton opened the account for 2Goals1Cup today.

The goal was priceless as it was the only goal of the game and 2Goals1Cup were up and running with their first victory of the day.
