Saipan FC were back in action against We've Got Wood at the start of Round 3. This was a meeting between the two teams who were leading the way in Group B with 4 points from a possible 6 so fare.

We're yet to fully introduce Saipan FC so let's start here. They claimed their first eurofootballfives.com trophy in 2014 when they won the Valencia Fives Plate! They beat Budapest Celtic Tigers 4-1 to win what was their 4th appearance in a final. They had reached the final with regularity before that but hadn't managed to get over the winning line – could the breakthrough in Valencia spark a run of success?

Their previous Runner-Up appearances were at the 2013 Berlin Fives Plate, 2011 Prague Masters Plate and the 2012 Barcelona Fives Cup. Add to that an appearance in the 2013 Budapest Plate Champion of Champions (finished 3rd) and you have one of our most experienced teams.

The two table-toppers were deadlocked at 0-0 at half time in this one before the main action all took place in the second half. It was Saipan FC who drew first blood as Ignacio Mochales Cuesta kept his fine run of goals going claiming his 5th in 3 games to give the Irish team the lead. Saipan FC then felt they should've had a penalty and a golden opportunity to put the game to bed but nothing was given.

It proved costly as We've Got Wood equalised in the dying embers of the game as Richard Jones second of the tournament made it 1-1 and earned what could be a vital point in the context of a tight Group B.

Dynamo Gunt and Morgans Magaluf both came into Round 3 on the back of a defeat. For Dynamo Gunt it was a first defeat of the day and if they could return to winning ways they could go top of the table. For Morgans Magaluf it was 2 defeats so far but a win for them would make it really interesting with just 3 points separating all 6 teams.

It was a circumspect start to the game and the two defences were on top in the early stages. There was nothing between the teams in terms of the score-line in the opening period and we reached the interval all square at 0-0.

As the game progressed the importance of the first goal increased and it would have been a huge relief to Dynamo Gunt when it came their way as Steve Bennett turned the ball home. John Briston then doubled the advantage to put Dynamo Gunt firmly in control.

At 2-0 the victory was assured and the win would indeed propel Dynamo Gunt to the summit of the Group B table. For Morgans Magaluf, the quest for points would continue.

Policia Local had the chance to join Dynamo Gunt at the summit of Group B when they entertained Stanford FC. If they could do so then just 1 point would separate the top 4 teams in what was becoming an engrossing Group. Conversely, a Stanford FC win would achieve the same with Dynamo Gunt on top a point ahead of 3 teams on 5 points. A draw would keep things steady but in such a tight group 3 points could be vital.

On the pitch, as we had done so in a huge number of games in Group B, we reached half-time level at 0-0. Stanford FC had two draws to their name already and really needed to start winning – whilst draws are clearly better than defeat they can stall a team's progress up the table and that was what was happening to Stanford FC who were still unbeaten.

The second halves were proving decisive in Group B as the goals flowed as legs and lungs tired. We were to get a goal here – just the one – and cometh the hour, cometh the man as Jose Delfa struck the winning blow.

It was a huge result for Policia Local who having lost their opening game had bounced back in style with two successive wins to lead Group B on goal difference. For Stanford FC, despite just the one defeat, were in 5th position.
