The
above result meant that Centrale Paris and 2Goals1Cup
could each claim 3rd position outright in Group
A if they could take victory from this game.
Both teams were sat on 3 points and the winner
would move a lot closer to finishing 3rd and
potential Cup qualification. A draw would leave
the teams in joint 3rd but with work to do going
into the final round of fixtures.
2Goals1Cup
had gone loss-win-loss so far and so would like
to show the same resilience to bouce back from
defeat as they had done in Round 2. Their opponents,
Centrale Paris, had just secured their first
victory of the day and were looking to keep
that momentum going as they hoped to surge up
the table.
The
first goal of the game rewarded the momentum
as it was Bertrand Desmottes' third goal in
two games that gave the French team a prized
1-0 lead. Centrale Paris had appeared to put
their slow start to games behind them. They
carried their lead into the half-time break.
In
the second half there was to be no addition
to the score as Centrale Paris kept their first
clean sheet of the day to shut out the forwards
of 2Goals1Cup and earn all 3 points. It was
the team from the French capital who now had
sole occupancy of third spot.
