Round 3 started with ZVC Indoor Gent taking on Contejus Hurricanes. It was a team with a 100% winning record against a team who today had a 100% losing record after two games.

Contejus Hurricanes were making their fourth appearance in eurofootballfives.com competition. In the 2012 Algarve Open they made a successful debut when they returned home with a trophy and winners medals as they claimed Plate victory. In the 2013 Krakow Trophy despite 3 group wins missed out on the Cup and played in the Plate again. A 3-0 win over It's Back saw them into another Semi-Final but Poland's Awiw stopped them in their tracks for a second Plate win. Last year they played in the Budapest Fives and struggled in the group phase finishing 5th of 6 teams. In the knock-out phase they turned their form around and went on to win the Budapest Fives Trophy competition.

Contejus Hurricanes, with the exception of Krakow, had been notoriously slow starters in these tournaments – could this game be the catalyst to get them going today. It was a daunting task against ZVC Indoor Gent.

The Belgian team were riding the crest of a wave in terms of form and this showed no signs of abating here. Three first half goals sent them on their way with strikes from Anthony Chimkovitch, Kenneth Blancquaert and Chimkovitch again putting them in command. Anthony Chimkovitch went on to score a hat-trick in the second half and rounded off a fine 4-0 victory.

Pelugueria Mariano and Seleccion Balear would meet in game 9 of Group C in an all-Spanish contest. The former still had their 100% record intact and if they could maintain this at the end of their third game they would be joint top with ZVC Indoor Gent. Seleccion Balear could join their opponents on 6 points with a win and advance their own claims for Cup qualification.

When we reached half-time we were no closer to realizing the destination of the points. The two defences were having a better time than the two attacks as we reached the break level at 0-0. We were to bear witness to goals in the second half though. Mariano Llamas Andreu scored his third goal in two games to put Pelugeuria Mariano in front. Sergio Gonzalez Sanchez doubled the lead and effectively sealed the game for the men in bright yellow shirts.

Pelugueria were matching ZVC Indoor Gent stride for stride as they joined the Belgians at the top of Group C. The two teams were level on 9 points but ZVC Indoor Gent maintained top spot on goal difference – it was tight at the top in a two horse race for the Group C title.

It was back to the drawing board for Seleccion Balear who were one of three teams on three points chasing down third position in the hope of being one of the best third placed teams and to therefore qualify for the Cup.
