Round 2 started with The Drip Trays versus ZVC Indoor Gent. The former had lost their opening fixture and the latter had claimed victory so a simplistic prediction would be to plump for an away win.

If you had a cheeky (metaphorical) bet on ZVC Indoor Gent then you'd have been counting your winnings as they forged ahead 2-0 in the first half of Round 2 just as they had in the first half of Round 1. Robby Ysewyn was again the man to find the breakthrough for the Belgian team before Kenneth Blancquaert opened his own personal account.

In the second half there was to be a first goal of the tournament for The Drip Trays when Stuart Millward breached the ZVC Indoor Gent defence. Ultimately it would only prove to be a consolation goal though as they were unable to find a second whilst at the other end Michael Ingels scored his third in two games.

The final score was 3-1 and ZVC Indoor Gent had a maximum 6 points out of 6. The Drip Trays were still to get off the mark but had two tough opening games to begin their campaign – they would hope it would get easier.

Contejus Hurricanes were up next as they took on Seleccion Balear. We had two teams who had tasted defeat in Round 1 and would surely be looking to bounce back as quickly as possible in Round 2.

Seleccion Balear did now have their full complement of players and looked a more organized and more settled team than they had done against ZVC Indoor Gent and it was they who took the lead in the first half through Paco. After the break they doubled their lead when Juan Garcia found the back of the net.

At 2-0 you could be forgiven for thinking the game was over – not at all. A Martin Weltman penalty reduced the deficit to 2-1 and there was almost an equalizer from the re-start but Seleccion Balear scrambled it away. There was a point for the taking for Contejus Hurricanes but Seleccion Balear held on as time ran away from the English team.

Final score, 2-1. Seleccion Balear were off and running with their first victory of the day. For Contejus Hurricanes the wait would go on.

To complete Round 2 we had Scoregasm versus Pelugueria Mariano. It was a contest between two first game victors and a second win for either side would see them join ZVC Indoor Gent at the top of Group C.

Both teams had been solid at the back in Round 1 keeping clean sheets and shown a certain amount of composure and resilience to see out narrow 1-0 wins. As a result we expected a close game here and that's what we got in the first half. There was just the one goal in that period as David Rivero Rigo gave Pelugueria Mariano the advantage.

After the break David Rivero Rigo scored again to give Pelugueria Mariano a two goal cushion. The Spanish team were in the ascendency and had the advantage as Scoregasm had no choice but to attack to try and get back into it. This meant there would inevitably be gaps at the back that Pelugueria Mariano could exploit and they did – twice. Mariano Llamas Andreu scored a second half double to make the game safe at 4-0.

It was a result that put Pelugueria Mariano level on 6 points with ZVC Indoor Gent at the top of the table but they were second on goals scored. Scoregasm slipped to fourth but, despite the setback, with three games to go were well placed in the chasing pack to gain Cup qualification.
