We arrived at the Plate Quarter-Final stage and we would shortly see eight teams reduced to four teams. FC Dwaze Zaken would meet Holsten Pils. The pre-determined draw meant the 3rd best 3rd placed team would meet the best 6th placed team. However, Springfield B (3rd in Group C) retired at the end of the group phase which meant the two third placed teams would both qualify for the Cup and we would have a vacancy in the Plate competition.

As a result of the above we promoted the second best sixth placed team to fill the spot. It meant FC Dwaze Zaken would step up from the Wooden Spoon competition to take the place in the Plate. Holsten Pils had qualified as the top ranked of the 6th placed teams.

Holsten Pils had started off with a 5-2 win but 4 successive defeats had scuppered their progress. Sadly for them that form continued into this game. They found themselves 3-1 down to the Dutch at half-time and by the final whistle they were eliminated from the tournament, 8-3. From a personal perspective there was something to celebrate for Tom Anthony who bagged a hat-trick.

FC Dwaze Zaken progressed thanks to an Olaf Floresse hat-trick, doubles from Arie Visser and Jan Moerster plus a goal from Dirk Jan Mudde.

The second quarter-final was an intriguing affair as Cruz Del Surely met Rothmans. Both teams had sister squads in the tournament and both of those sister squads met in Group C with Cruz Del Sur defeating Holsten Pils, 4-0.

The Rothmans squad had struggled at the Quarter-Final stage in our tournaments. Last year in Gdansk, Monaco Tiny Gdanskers went out 2-0 in the Cup to a very good Lithuanian Lilchicago team. I Love United & Drinking Shandies came unstuck at the Plate Quarter-Final stage following 3-0 defeat to Fresher's FC. Today, Holsten Pils had just left the tournament so it was all eyes on Rothmans to buck the trend.

It was Cruz Del Surely who struck first as Danny McGee continued his fine form in front of goal. Nyle Jones equalised for Rothmans and it was game on but Danny McGee put Cruz Del Surely ahead again at 2-1. Two Adam Cummins goals gave Cruz Del Surely a cushion at 4-1 going into the break.

In the second half Cruz Del Surely increased that lead to 7-1 with an Andy Baines hat-trick. There was some late consolation for Rothmans as Aaron Sullivan and Tim Werger reduced the deficit to 7-3.

Quarter-Final 3 was due to be AFC FYM versus Legendarische IT Werkgever. On the fixture list it was the team in fourth place from Group B playing the fifth place team from Group C.

However, due to injuries Legendarische IT Werkgever were unable to fufill the fixture and AFC FYM were therefore handed a 3-0 walkover and safe passage to the Semi-Finals.

Three Quarter-Finals down, one to go as The Hoover Dams would play Sloterdijk.

The Hoover Dams reached this stage with a creditable 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats from their 5 group games. They actually finished the group phase with the fifth best defence and the fifth best goal difference of all 18 teams in the tournament. It was form that could have seen them in the Cup competition on another day.

In comparison Sloterdijk had 1 win, 1 draw and 3 defeats. They had scored less, conceded more and there was an 18 goal gap in terms of the two team's goal differences so the Dutch side were definitely the underdogs for this game.

The Hoover Dams were favourites on paper and lived up to that billing on the pitch. They effectively wrapped up the game in the opening period by racing into a 5-0 lead. Chris Proffitt set them on their way before Jonathan Trott made it 2-0. The same combination then put them 4-0 up before Max Modridge bagged his second of the day.

After the break Elliott Hathaway added a couple to open his account and there was a consolation for Yannick Da Costa of Sloterdijk. Final score, 7-1. The Hoover Dams were through.
