At the start of Round 3, we had Shahs of Sunset versus Luca Toni FC. This was the biggest game of Group A so far as it saw 2 of the top 3 teams meet head-to-head in direct competition. Luca Toni FC possessed a 100% record whilst Shahs of Sunset were unbeaten so this promised to be a very good game.

Shahs of Sunset's most recent performance before today was at the 2018 Riga Tournament. They won Group B with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat in a very tight group where just 2 points separated the top 4 of 5 teams. A narrow 2-1 defeat in the Quarter-Finals ended their run in Riga. They had hit the front in both of their games today but they would need to come from behind in this one – not once but three times!

Luca Toni FC opened the scoring in the first half through Mario Flores before Paul Lehair made it 1-1. Barry Lysaght then put Luca Toni FC 2-1 up with a lead they retained until half-time. Anes Jusic restored parity for the Shahs in the second half at 2-2. Matthijs Withagen then scored for the third game running to make it 3-2 but Shahs were resilient. Martin Weltman scoring the game's final goal as the teams shared the spoils in a 3-3 thriller.

Next up we had FC Dwaze Zaken versus Cruz Del Surely. At the start of Round 3 we had a clearly defined top 3 and bottom 3. If one of these teams wanted to bridge that Cup they would ideally need to win their final 3 games to have any hope of qualifying for the Cup.

Last year at the 2018 Algarve Open Cruz Del Surely finished 2 nd in their 8-team group to qualify for the Cup competition. Cruz Del Surely took 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat from Group A with 10 goals for and just 1 against. It was a group that finished 3x time winners L'Albiceleste of France and 2x winners 9 Nana Budds of England. They continued their good form with a 1-0 win over AFC Chorltonians in the Quarter-Finals. In the Semi-Finals, Cruz Del Surely drew 0-0 with 9 Nana Budds but went out on penalties.

So far it was 2 defeats out of 2 but they were about to change that in emphatic style. The English team raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to a brace from Adam Cummins and Nnamdi David. In the second half the goals kept flowing as Danny McGee scored his second of the tournament and Andy Baines got off the mark.

The final word went to FC Dwaze Zaken though as Olaf Floresse made it 5-1 to spoil a clean sheet for Ashley Hamilton.

The draw between Luca Toni FC and Shahs of Sunset opened things up for Epsilon Rovers. At the start of Round 3 Epsilon Rovers lead Group A on goal difference. A win here would see them start Round 4 with a 2 point lead at the top. Their opponents were Sloterdijk who were currently at the foot of the table and looking for their first points.

The first half was reasonably close in terms of the score with just the one goal dividing the two teams. Jed Cinnamon was the man with the goal – his team's 10 th in just 5 halves of football.

It was always going to be a tough task for Sloterdijk to come back especially as Epsilon Rovers were yet to concede in the tournament. Their task got that much harder when Jed Cinnamon made it 2-0. After an Evan Day hat-trick it became practically impossible for the Dutch to get something out of this game. Rob Devall completed the scoring as Epsilon Rovers ran out 6-0 winners.

There was a third clean sheet of the day for Rich “Keeps” Simmons and his team were flying.
