Round 3 started with FC Spritz hosting Legendarische IT Werkgever. This was Group C's battle of the Dutch teams. So far, it had been tough for the Dutch teams in this group with 3 defeats out of the 4 games played. Legendarische IT Werkgever had enjoyed success in their previous game so would look to build upon this and advance their position up the table.

FC Spritz had tasted defeat twice today (5-2, 2-0) but it was they who hit the front here and they produced a stunning first half display. It saw them change ends with a 4-1 lead. 2 goals from Mimi and 2 goals from Valentin had put FC Spritz in control of this game. A 5 th goal of the tournament for Karim Elbaz gave Legendarische IT Werkgever a glimmer of hope for the second half.

The second half was closer but FC Spritz increased their lead as 4-1 at half-time became 6-1 at full-time. Goe and Cornel added to the FC Spritz total whilst Willem Bosch was on target for Legendarische IT Werkgever.

At kick-off, we had the top 5 in Group C all separated by just 1 point. The top two were on four points each with the next 3 teams all on 3 points each. We now had the two teams on four points coming face to face – Cruz Del Sur versus The Hoover Dams.

Cruz Del Sur's record in the group phase of the tournaments (under their various names) was impressive. It included 2x unbeaten campaigns and 1x 100% record. The full history read:

2012 Barcelona Fives: 4 2-1-1 6-2 7 (2nd)

2013 Budapest Fives: 5 2-2-1 3-4 8 (3rd)

2015 Amsterdam Fives: 5 2-2-1 9-6 8 (3rd)

2016 Riga Tournament: 5 5-0-0 12-3 15 (1st)

2017 Lisbon Tournament: 7 3-1-3 9-6 10 (4th)

2018 Algarve Open: 7 3-4-0 7-1 13 (2nd)

Overall: 33 17-10-6 46-22

Here against The Hoover Dams they were level at 0-0 at half-time. Cruz Del Sur were yet to conceded in the tournament and as Bobby Moore once said, “ If you don't concede any goals you'll win more games than you lose.'

Cruz Del Sur's David Jamieson maintained his tournament clean sheet all the way to full time whilst at the other end David Coleman scored the only goal of the game to earn a win for Cruz Del Sur that saw them go 3 points clear at the top.

We were now past the half-way stage in Group C and things were starting to take shape. In a congested table we had third placed Holsten Pils hosting sixth placed Springfield B although the teams were separated by just 1 point and whoever won this game would end Round 3 in second place in the table.

Springfield B were unbeaten so far but two draws (against the current top two teams) had hindered their progress up the table. Could they get their first win under their belts?

The quick answer to that is yes and they did it in emphatic style. They dominated the game from start to finish with 4 goals in each half. They produced the biggest win of the day as they defeated Holsten Pils, 8-1.

James Donnellan set the ball rolling before Liam O'Brien bagged a first half hat-trick. Liam O'Brien was to add another two goals after the break and there was also a brace for Aidan Harte. From a Holsten Pils perspective Alex Burns 6th goal of the day was a bright spot in a game they would probably otherwise want to forget.
