Group C was really hotting up as we entered Round 4. Each team had just two games left to stake their claim for the Cup or the Plate. Up first was The Hoover Dams and FC Spritz.

In Round 3, a narrow 1-0 defeat to Cruz Del Sur saw The Hoover Dams slip from first position to third in the table. A win here could see them return to the top – temporarily at least. They would meet an FC Spritz team who had recovered from two defeats to record a 6-2 win last time out. FC Spritz now sat just one point and one position below The Hoover Dams in the table.

For two teams so close in the table it was perhaps no surprise that they were closely matched on the pitch too. The first half came and went with the teams locked together at 1-1. Jonathan Trott (The Hoover Dams) and Ionel (FC Spritz) scored goals to cancel each other out.

In the second half the pivotal third goal of the game went to Mimi. Mimi also scored the next goal of the game to secure his team a 3-1 win. It was Mimi's fifth strike of the day and saw his team move up into second place in the table.

How would FC Spitz's win effect the other teams at the top? It meant the Dutch team moved up to second and knocked Springfield B down to third place. Springfield B could move to the top of the table though with a win. They took on Legendarische IT Werkgever (Hol). Springfield B were one of just 2 teams still unbeaten in Group C.

Legendarische IT Werkgever were only 2 points behind their opponents and could move up to second with a win for themselves. Group C was proving to be a really tight affair so far.

Springfield B were looking like they were moving through the gears though. After they established themselves in the group with 2 draws they went onto record a resounding win last time out. They carried that momentum into this game to establish a 3-0 lead at half-time. That was 11 goals in a match and a half. Liam O'Brien in particular had found the goal-scoring touch. He scored 5 in the previous match and scored 2 more here. Jason McGuire was also on target.

In the second half Legendarische IT Werkgever staged a bit of a comeback but the damage had already been done in the opening period. Gerard scored twice for the Amsterdam team whilst Jason McGuire scored his second of the game to leave us with a 4-2 win for Springfield B.

To complete Round 4 we had Holsten Pils versus Cruz Del Sur. Holsten Pils had started the day well with a 5-2 win but two consecutive defeats had seen them slip to the foot of the table. The last thing they needed was to play the league leaders at the end of Round 3, Cruz Del Sur.

Cruz Del Sur had 2 wins and a draw and were yet to concede a goal today. However, they had lost top spot in Group C following Springfield B's win in Round 4. Cruz Del Sur had a game in hand and this was it.

In a determined first half, Cruz Del Sur opened up a 3-0 lead as Dominic Pitt, Tom Lawro and David Coleman all successfully found the back of the net.

We are sure Cruz Del Sur were unaware of this but a sub-plot to this game was that since we moved to this venue only 1 goalkeeper had kept 4 clean sheets at the start of a tournament and that was Spain United's goalkeeper at the 2016 Amsterdam Fives. David Jamieson was now 3.5 games into the tournament and could equal that record.

In the second half Cruz Del Sur added a fourth goal with David Coleman on target again. When the referee blew the whistle for full-time, David Jamieson was still to be beaten in goal and he now had the joint best start to an Amsterdam Fives here of any goalkeeper. Well done to him.
