Round 3 started with ZVC Indoor Gent “hosting” Shaolin Soccer. We say hosting as ZVC Indoor Gent were the “home” team for the fixture but were the travelling team for the tournament. Shaolin Soccer were the “away” team on the fixture but the local team based in Amsterdam.

ZVC Indoor Gent had so far been drawn in the opening fixture of each round. Each time they had secured victory and put pressure on the teams behind to match them with victories. So far, only Club Atlantico Nationale had been able to match them. Could they win a third game in a row and shift the pressure back on to their rivals and the chasing pack?

Shaolin Soccer would not be an easy game for ZVC to win. The local Dutch team had only lost narrowly to Club Atlantico Nationale in Round 1 and came into this game on the back of a 4-1 win versus Sutton on Tour (who ZVC had beaten 5-1). We expected a close game and that's what we got. It was the Belgians who lead at half-time though thanks to Michael Ingels. He kept up his record of scoring in every game so far.

The goals flowed in the second half but the game remained close. There was four goals with two for each team. Michael Ingels netted again which meant he had now scored twice in every game. There was also a double for Shaolin Soccer's Guus Ter Stege. Senne Morren scored his first goal of the tournament for ZVC Indoor Gent as his team won 3-2.

It was another win for ZVC Indoor Gent who showed they could win big (5-1 v Sutton on Tour) and also the close games (2-1 v Purnell Youth, 3-2 here).

With ZVC Indoor Gent securing their third victory and opening up a three point lead at the top it was over to Club Atlantico Nationale to see if they could close that gap and level things up at the top again. Their opponents would be Purnell Youth.

Purnell Youth were still looking for their first win and to put their first points on the board. It would be a tough ask against Club Atlantico Nationale who were 2 wins from 2 to date. Purnell Youth had so far been more competitive in the first half than the second half so a strong start would be essential for the team in orange.

Purnell Youth did pretty well again in the opening period and, although there were 6 points and 5 places between the teams at kick-off, they provided a good contest for Club Atlantico Nationale. They were unable to prevent Club Atlantico Nationale from taking the lead though as Curtis Sutton scored his second of the tournament to put his team in the driving seat.

After the break Tom Cook kept up his goal per game record as he made it 3 in 3 games for Purnell Youth. Alas for him he was unable to prevent his team slipping to another defeat as David Morelli's goal in the second half proved to be the winning strike. Club Atlantico Nationale were proving remarkably consistent with their third successive 2-1 win as they kept pace with ZVC Indoor Gent.

We were now past the half-way stage in Group C and things were starting to take shape at the top and the bottom. The top two had opened up a 6 point gap on the field but BSP FC had the opportunity to close the gap on the leaders if they could claim their second win of the day. Their opponents would be Sutton On Tour.

Sutton On Tour were currently rooted to the foot of the Group C table looking for their first points. The positive for them was that they were scoring (a goal in each game) but they were leaking goals heavily at the other end (9 conceded). BSP FC had scored 9 themselves so far in two games so it looked like this game would be won and lost depending how Sutton On Tour coped with the BSP attack.

BSP FC were amongst the goals from the off as they raced to a 4-0 lead by half-time. They increased the lead after the break to 6-0 as they rounded off a comprehensive win. Alex Richardson added to his brace in Round 1 with a hat-trick here. Zak Sandhu kept up his record of scoring in every game with two as he took his tally for the tournament to 4. Kyle McLellan was also amongst the goals to take him to 5 for the day.

There was a clean sheet for Benjamin Hamlet in goal for BSP FC – remarkably, this would be the only clean sheet kept in all 15 games of Group C.
