With their first games under their belts it was Round 2 for all the teams in Group A and time to settle in to the tournament. Up next on Pitch A was FC Tiote versus Naranjitos.

Naranjitos entered the eurofootballfives.com fold at the 2014 Valencia Fives. They started off slowly with a 3-2 defeat before bouncing back with 7-1 and 4-2 wins before a 2-2 draw saw them finish 3 rd . They qualified for the Cup as one of the best 3rd placed teams but went out at the Quarter-Final stage, 5-3, to the eventual winners – Sparta. At the 2014 Barcelona Fives and the 2015 Budapest Fives there was success for Naranjitos as they won the Plate competition at both events.

They made the journey from Valencia again to compete in the 2015 Barcelona Fives and look for a hat-trick of victories. They finished second in Group A with a haul of 7 points and qualified for the Plate. They drew 2-2 with compatriots Drunk Perfect but a 3-2 penalty shoot-out defeat saw them exit the tournament. In 2016, Naranjitos made a third successive Barcelona Fives appearance. It was their best performance in the group phase of one of our tournaments as they won all 7 games scoring 21 goals and conceding just 3 along the way. They were ranked #1 of 32 teams as we entered the knock-out phase but in the Cup Quarter-Final they lost 1-0 to The Spice Boys.

The Spanish had lost their opener today and were behind again here as FC Tiote opened up a 2-0 lead thanks to a double strike from Lewis Trevor. In defence, the English team was strong and Ben Martin in goal went on to complete his first clean sheet of the today as FC Tiote were our early leaders in Group A. Full-time, 2-0.

To complete Round 2 we had Vieze Vu versus JK Silvertown. Both teams had enjoyed a solid start in Round 1. Vieze Vu took a point from a 0-0 draw whilst JK Silvertown had taken all three points against Naranjitos.

If JK Silvertown could make it two wins from two then they would take a joint share of the lead at the summit of Group A. Vieze Vu could take a share of second place if they were to win. They had just made their task in the Fives tournament that much harder by also entering the Sixes tournament (replacing Toros who were a no-show). Vieze Vu would therefore be playing pretty much constantly throughout the day with little rest between games. How would they cope with the added workload?

Pretty well is the answer. Gijs Kok scored twice in the first half to put them in the ascendency at half-time 2-1. Chris Wright was the man on target for JK Silvertown in the first half and he was on the mark again in the second half too. However, his goal would not be enough to put some points on the board for the English team. Jordi Minnema would be the match-winner as ultimately his goal proved to be the difference between the two teams.

The 3-2 defeat meant that JK Silvertown were the big losers of the round as they slipped from second to fourth in the table but it was still early days. Vieze Vu moved up a place to third.
