Next
up was FC Potsdam versus JK Silvertown. This
would probably be the toughest game to call
as the two teams' form had been a little unpredictable
(in terms of results at least). JK Silvertown
had two wins either side of two defeats. FC
Potsdam started with 4 points from 6 before
two successive defeats had scuppered their progress
up the table.
JK
Silvertown would finish in second position with
a victory and qualify for the Cup. A draw would
guarantee them third position with 7 points
and they would have to then wait for the other
groups to finish to see if they would be one
of the best two third placed teams to qualify.
A defeat would see them slip down to fourth
and play in the Plate.
For
FC Potsdam the task of Cup qualification was
a touch more difficult and only a win would
be good enough (potentially). They would finish
in third place on 7 points and have to await
their fate. A draw would see them finish fourth
and a defeat would see them finish fifth for
a third consecutive Plate qualification.
The
game itself was a close run thing. There was
goals aplenty in the first period but they were
flying in at both ends. It was JK Silvertown
who lead by the odd goal in five at half-time.
Chris Wright (2) and Gavin Ashby were the men
with the goals for JK Silvertown. Joe Lazell
and Dan O'Neill both scored their first goals
of the tournament for FC Potsdam.
There
was a goal each in the second half for Matt
Berka (FC Potsdam) and Chris Wright (JK Silvertown).
The goal for Chris Wright was notable on a personal
level as it completed his hat-trick. It was
notable on a team level as it secured a 4-3
win and second place in the table. Many congratulations
to JK Silvertown who qualified for the Cup.
