At the start of Round 3, we had FC Tiote versus FC Potsdam. This was the biggest game of Group A so far as it saw the top teams meet head-to-head in direct competition. FC Tiote currently lead the way with a 100% record but FC Potsdam were also unbeaten so this promised to be a very good game.

With the match underway the two teams looked to be evenly matched. In a high scoring tournament we had two top class defences on show. The two teams had each conceded just once in their opening two games. This game would continue in the same vein with the defences dominant and just the one goal in the match to decide the destiny of the points.

The man that would be the hero of the hour was Lewis Trevor. His goals in Round 2 earned his team victory over Naranjitos. His first half goal in Round 3 would earn all three points against FC Potsdam. FC Tiote may have been on European debut but they were taking to eurofootballfives.com action like a duck to water. It was 3 wins out of 3 and they were storming Group A.

Next up we had Naranjitos versus Vieze Vu. At the start of Round 3 these teams were 5th and 3rd in the table respectively.

Naranjitos had found life difficult so far today which was a bit of a surprise. At their previous eurofootballfives.com appearance they recorded 7 wins out of 7 at the 2016 Barcelona Fives in the group phase. Today, they had 2 defeats from 2 so far but all was not lost. They had 9 points to play for and could still make the Cup.

The Spanish faced a tough task against Vieze Vu who were unbeaten so far with 4 points out of 6. However, the Spanish finally looked to be finding their form as they opened up a 3-1 lead by half-time. Goals from Luis Imbernon Bano and David Moya Aparicio (2) put them on top.

Tim Van Gelder scored the first of the game for Vieze Vu who hit back sensationally in the second half. Tim Van Gelder went on to complete his hat-trick and there was a double strike from Stefan Bijwan as the Dutch wrestled momentum from the Spanish. However, it was not one way traffic as Javier Sanches Flores scored twice in the second period for Naranjitos.

It was a superb game and the highest scoring match of Group A. The match finished 5-5 and only time would tell if this was a point gained or two points lost.

It was 4th placed JK Silvertown against 6th placed Team Koopman in the final fixture of Round 3.

JK Silvertown had enjoyed a mixed start to the tournament with a win followed by a loss. They could move up to second with a victory here. Team Koopman had struggled so far this morning having lost both their fixtures. The Dutch team lost their first three games in 2016 and would not want a repeat of that unbeaten record.

Things were looking good for Team Koopman at half-time. Michel Kroes and Mike Kroes goals had given them a 2-1 lead. Gavin Ashby's goal for JK Silvertown meant they were still very much in the hunt for all three points though.

The second half saw the teams exchange a goal each with Mike Kroes scoring his third of the tournament for Team Koopman and Jose Ferreira scoring his second in three games for JK Silvertown. The English team were unable to peg back their Dutch hosts though as Team Koopman won 3-2.

The win lifted Team Koopman up into fifth position whereas JK Silvertown remained in fourth. Group A was becoming very tight with just 2 points separating the four teams between second and fifth position.
