In
Game 11 of Group A we had Team Koopman versus
Vieze Vu. This was the all-Dutch contest of
the group.
Vieze
Vu were so far unbeaten in their opening three
games. A couple of draws had hindered their
progress up the table as they found themselves
four points behind the leaders. They now had
a chance to reduce that lead at the top to just
1 point (although FC Tiote would have a game
in hand).
At
last year's tournament Team Koopman started
slowly with three defeats but then went on an
unbeaten run to claim the Plate title. Today,
it was two defeats before stopping the rot with
a very good win over JK Silvertown. Could they
embark on a similar unbeaten run to glory in
2017?
If
they were to do so they would have to do it
from behind. Team Koopman found themselves 4-2
behind at half-time. Vieze Vu shared the goals
around in the first half with Gijs Kok, Tim
Van Gelder, Stefan Bijwan and Brendan Ashley
all finding the back of the net. Two goals from
Mike Kroes kept Team Koopman in it as he took
his personal tally to 5 in 4 games.
In
the second half, Vieze Vu extinguished any hopes
of a Team Koopman comeback. Gijs Kok made it
5-2 and 6-2 as he completed his hat-trick. Tim
Van Gelder put the icing on the cake to complete
a superb 7-2 win.
