SC Sylt and Hamid Hammers kicked off Round 4. At the start of Round 4 it was a four horse race at the top of Group B with Hamid Hammers leading the way on 9 points and then 3 teams locked together on 6 points. SC Sylt were one of those three teams.

If Hamid Hammers could continue their 100% record they would have booked their space in the next round with a game to spare. They would also just need 1 more point to be absolutely sure of the Group B title. If SC Sylt were to win it would make it really tight at the top with the other two teams currently on 6 points due to play each other next.

With everything nice and close at the top we were expecting an evenly matched contest with maybe Hamid Hammers coming out on top and that is what we got in the first half. A Floris Kouijzer goal proved to be the difference in the opening period. After the break though, the floodgates opened. Hamid Hammers started scoring goals with relentless attacks on the SC Sylt goal.

1-0 at half-time became 6-0 at full-time as Floris Kouijzer went onto bag a hat-trick and there were goals from Dan Paterson, Matt McSheaffrey and Nick Ghamgosar. There was a third clean sheet of the day for Murray Scott as well – putting him just behind the record of 4 achieved by Spain United last year. It was a stunning result from Hamid Hammers and a game to forget for SC Sylt.

Next up was We Pay People versus Ian Todd FC. Given the result above this was effectively the battle for second position in the table. A win here would put the victor in control of that battle needing just a point from their final game to ensure safe passage to the elite Cup competition. A draw would make it very interesting going into the final round with second to fourth separated by only a point.

We often say momentum is a big thing in these tournaments – if it is with you results blossom, if it is against you it can be tough to get things back on track. Ian Todd FC needed a win to stop the momentum against them. They won their first two games but having lost their last game they needed to bounce back and get their campaign on track again. We Pay People came into this game on the back of a morale boosting 6-2 win over Cheesefake FC.

After a closely matched first half the teams went into the break all level at 1-1. Alex Howes bagged his 9th goal of the tournament for the English team, Tom Reurts scored for the Dutch team. The second half was also close but there would be a winner. The third and decisive strike of the game came from Zachario whose 5th goal of the tournament earned all 3 points for We Pay People.

The result saw We Pay People move into second position and saw Ian Todd FC drop a place into third position.

The final game of Round 4 was the academic exercise of adding Cheesefake's 3-0 walkover win to the league standings. See below for how we ended Round 4.
