Next
up was We Pay People versus Ian Todd FC. Given
the result above this was effectively the battle
for second position in the table. A win here
would put the victor in control of that battle
needing just a point from their final game to
ensure safe passage to the elite Cup competition.
A draw would make it very interesting going
into the final round with second to fourth separated
by only a point.
We
often say momentum is a big thing in these tournaments
– if it is with you results blossom, if it is
against you it can be tough to get things back
on track. Ian Todd FC needed a win to stop the
momentum against them. They won their first
two games but having lost their last game they
needed to bounce back and get their campaign
on track again. We Pay People came into this
game on the back of a morale boosting 6-2 win
over Cheesefake FC.
After
a closely matched first half the teams went
into the break all level at 1-1. Alex Howes
bagged his 9th goal of the tournament for the
English team, Tom Reurts scored for the Dutch
team. The second half was also close but there
would be a winner. The third and decisive strike
of the game came from Zachario whose 5th goal
of the tournament earned all 3 points for We
Pay People.
The
result saw We Pay People move into second position
and saw Ian Todd FC drop a place into third
position.
