Round 5 began with Hamid Hammers and We Pay People. The two teams were in first and second position at the start of this final round with Hamid Hammers needing just a point to secure the Group B title.

For We Pay People a draw was needed to ensure second place and Cup qualification. If We Pay People lost they could be overtaken by either or both of SC Sylt and Ian Todd FC who were just three points behind. It would then come down to goal difference to decide second, third (and possibly fourth) positions. This would then need to be compared with the other groups to see if 9 points would be enough as one of the two best third placed finishing teams.

For the more optimistic Dutch fans, We Pay People could still win Group B with a win here but only if it was by 4 goals or more. This would be tough against a team who had conceded just once all day. The added complication for We Pay People was they were now down to a squad of 4 players. It's not as if Hamid Hammers needed any help but this would play into their hands.

With the extra man Hamid Hammers made short work of We Pay People. They were 3-0 up by half-time and extended the lead thereafter to 7-1 at the full-time whistle. Nick Ghamgosar lead the way with a hat-trick, followed by a brace from Dan Paterson and a goal each for Floris Kouijzer and Ruaraidh Scott. There was a consolation for We Pay People from Zachario (took his tally for the tournament to 6).

Hamid Hammers had won Group B and won it in style. They had done it with a 100% record – the only one in the tournament.

So, the last game on the field in Group B would be SC Sylt versus Cheesefake FC. What was at stake for these two teams?

For Cheesefake FC the game was largely academic in terms of whether they would qualify for the Cup or the Plate. We already knew it would be the Plate as the highest number of points they could achieve was 6 and therefore fourth position at best. A 3 goal win here would see them finish above their opponents. The advantage of a fourth placed finish compared to fifth would be a (theoretically) easier Plate Quarter-Final tie.

For SC Sylt there was more at stake as they could still reach the Cup. They currently sat on 6 points and knew that We Pay People and Ian Todd FC would both finish on 9 points. Those two teams had a goal difference off -1 and +8 respectively. SC Sylt currently had -3 so they would have to record a massive win to climb above Ian Todd FC and claim second. A win by 3 or more would see them finish third, a 2 goal win would be enough to finish third if it was 4-2, 5-3 or higher. Third place would not guarantee a place in the Cup though – it would only be sufficient if they were one of the two best third placed finishing teams across all 3 groups.

The mathematics would all be for later. SC Sylt just needed to take care of matters on the field and hope everything else would work out for the best. They appeared to be doing just that as they opened up a 3-1 lead at the break. They needed more but they were well placed. Cheesefake FC could not be shaken off though – they added two goals to their strike in the first half to make SC Sylt work hard for the win. SC Sylt did go on to win with two second half goals of their own. Their 5-3 win would indeed see them finish in third position – one of three teams on 9 points. They were behind Ian Todd FC on goal difference but ahead of We Pay People on goals scored.

When compared to the other groups they just missed out on Cup qualification by 1 goal. The third placed team in Group C had 12 points, the team in Group A also had 9 points but with an even goal difference (8-8) compared to SC Sylt's -1 (16-17).

To wrap up Group B we applied Ian Todd FC's 3-0 walkover win against Woodmann Academy. This would see Ian Todd FC finish in second position and qualify for the Cup as one of the elite 8 teams in the tournament.
