Round 3 started with Argon'ze taking on FC Broxelona A. It was the league leaders taking on the team in fourth place.

FC Broxelona A had won their first two games in style, 3-1 and 5-2, so they would be super confident going into this one. However, the English team suffered an early setback as Benjamin Cahart put Argon'ze 1-0 up. Benjamin Cahart had played for the Centrale Football Club who competed at the 2014 Mallorca Tournament finishing second in their group before being knocked out by eventual champions Cheesecake FC in the Cup Quarter-Finals. Could his Argon'ze team match or better that result here in 2017?

The French had lost their first game but a win in Round 2 and a lead here in Round 3 saw them growing in confidence and they retained their lead until half-time. They could not hold the lead until full-time though as Scott Morgan scored his fifth in three games to level things up in the second period. Neither team could produce a winner though and we finished at 1-1.

Only time would tell if this was 1 point gained or 2 points dropped.

FC Dad and Fleet Street Elite 1 was the next big kick-off on Pitch A. Fleet Street Elite 1 were without a win so far but they had been against the two top teams. Given FC Dad's record at the 2016 Riga Tournament this promised to be another tough fixture.

However, FC Dad were also winless today from their opening two games. They would have been reasonably ok with the 1-0 loss to Mariano FC in the sense that they almost held the defending champions to a draw but they were probably less happy with the 1-0 loss to the French side. FC Dad were still looking for their first goal(s) of the tournament but they would not have to wait much longer.

David Crewdson broke their duck on the day early on and from then on the floodgates opened. Stuart Leslie made it 2-0, Calum Jones scored for 3-0 before Ben McNamee added a fourth. The referee's half-time whistle gave Fleet Street Elite 1 some respite.

As they had done so in their previous game, Fleet Street Elite 1 steadied the ship in the second half and even grabbed a goal of their own through Jordan Lincoln. Stuart Leslie scored a second of the game for FC Dad who ran out 5-1 victors.

Mariano FC and Het Sterretje would meet in game 9 of Group C. The former still had their 100% record intact (not just for today but dating back to 2015 in the group phase) and if they could maintain this at the end of their third game they would be 2 points clear at the top of the Group C table. Het Sterretje could join their opponents on 6 points with a win and advance their own claims for Cup qualification.

Het Sterretje had an uphill task as this is what they faced:

Mariano FC – Group Record

Played 12, Won 12, Scored 41, Conceded 5.

Mariano FC – Overall Record

Played 17, Won 15, Drawn 2, Scored 58, Conceded 10.

The match went with the form book as it looked like the 13 th group game for Mariano FC would not prove to be unlucky. They took a 1-0 lead in the first half through Rafael Rivero Rigo. He scored a second after the break (to add to his hat-trick in Round 2) and it was enough to see the Spanish claim win #3 of the day.

Rob Vreugdenhil kept up his goal per game ratio for Het Sterretje but, sadly for them, they lost 2-1. It was a valiant effort against such strong opposition.
