The
above result meant that FC Maroon had slipped
a place down to third but they had a game in
hand. That game in hand was the 12.30 fixture
on Pitch C versus Ze'Argon. FC Maroon needed
a win to leapfrog Brioche FS and KML to go back
to the top.
Ze'Argon
needed a result to climb off the bottom of the
table. The French team had got off to a solid
start with a 1-1 draw but two successive defeats
had left them in trouble at the foot of the
table. Cup qualification was still an outside
possibility as one of the best third placed
teams but they would have to win their final
two group games and hope other results (not
just in Group A) would go their way.
The
two teams reached the break at 0-0 but we would
get some goals in the second half. We would
get two goals in fact and both went to FC Maroon.
The Alawis had been a rich source of goals for
FC Maroon over the years and they continued
that form here in Mallorca. James Alawi broke
the deadlock here before Matt Alawi sealed the
win with a second.
The
tournament clean sheet for Ed Brangwin remained
intact and FC Maroon were top of the table once
more. Could KML join them again?
