Round 2 started with FC Dad versus Argon'ze. FC Dad were making their 7th eurofootballfives appearance in Mallorca. Their association with our tournaments dates back to the 2011 Prague Masters where they reached the Plate Quarter-Finals. They followed this up by playing in the 2012 Valencia Fives where they narrowly missed out on glory, losing 3-2 in the Trophy Final.

In the 2013 Lisbon Tournament they had a great start with a 2-1 win over Hungary's Csabagyongye before they struggled with results but were not outclassed with two narrow defeats. They finished 5 th in their 6 th team group and missed out on the knock-out stage. FC Dad drew a tough group at the 2014 Budapest Fives that featured 2-times eurofootballfives.com winners FC Radbroke and eventual Runners-Up, Argentina. They finished the group phase on a high with a 1-0 win over Old Man Hortor's Revival. They continued their winning form into the Trophy Quarter-Finals with a 2-1 win over RS Ocean Village FC before an exit in the Semi-Finals, 1-0, to Cava Sundays.

At the 2015 Barcelona Fives they started off with a resounding 4-1 win over ABCDE FC before 2 defeats to Spanish and Irish opposition. They completed their group with a 1-1 draw that saw them finish as one of four teams separated by just 1 point from 2nd to 5th. They ultimately finished 4th and went through to the Trophy where they went out to FC Seagrave, 2-0.

Their most recent tournament was their most successful – the 2016 Riga Tournament. They recorded their highest group finish (2nd of 6-teams) with 3 wins, 1 draw and just 1 defeat. They qualified for the Cup for the first time and in the Quarter-Finals took the scalp of Cruz Del Sur A, 1-0. Their epic journey ended at the Semi-Final stage where L'Albiceleste prevented them reaching a debut final. Incidentally, L'Albiceleste were winners here at the 2013 Mallorca Fives (playing under their sponsors name – Grant Thornton).

Both teams had opened up with defeat and were looking to bounce back in Round 2. Just one goal would settle this tie and the goal came from Guillaume Curis. It gave Argon'ze their first 3 points of the day.

FC Broxelona A were up next as they took on Het Sterretje.

FC Broxelona made their eurofootballfives.com debut at the 2016 Budapest Fives with two teams. The A team got off to the perfect start with 6 points from 6 before results faded. They finished 4 th (of 6) and would qualify for the Plate competition.

In the knock-out phase, Broxelona A were involved in a really tight affair with Athletic Pasty which finished 0-0 at full time. FC Broxelona won 2-0 on penalties to set up an all-Broxelona Plate Final. A ding-dong Plate Final saw the A team emerge victorious 4-3. Could there be more medals secured in Mallorca?

Both of these teams had tasted early success with victories in Round 1. Could either kick on and make it 2 wins from 2 and be the early pace-setters in Group C. A tight first half saw FC Broxelona A take a 1-0 lead into half-time with Scott Morgan the man to claim the goal.

The second half was much more open and FC Broxelona A were enjoying themselves in front of goal as Scott Morgan went on to complete a hat-trick. Luke Blackwell scored for the second game running whilst Jack Baker opened his personal account. Goals from Roel du Maine and Rob Vreugdenhil gave Het Sterretje victory against Argon'ze. They both scored again in Round 2 but their goals were to be consolations in a 5-2 defeat this time.

To complete Round 2 we had Fleet Street Elite 1 versus Mariano FC. Fleet Street Elite 1 were looking to avenge opening game defeat versus Broxelona. Mariano FC were looking to join Broxelona at the top by making it 6 points from a possible 6.

Mariano FC had a 100% record in the group phase of our tournaments which meant they had 11 successive wins in group stages coming into this game. They left it late versus FC Dad but never-the-less took the win to keep that run going. This was hardly the game Fleet Street Elite 1 needed to bounce back from an opening game loss.

The damage in this game was all done in the first half and all done by one man – Rafael Rivero Rigo. He scored a first half hat-trick that took the game away from the English early on. There was some good damage limitation in the second half as the defending champions were unable to add to their lead. Final score, 3-0.

It was a result that put Mariano FC level on 6 points with FC Broxelona A at the top of the table but they were second on goals difference. Fleet Street Elite 1 slipped to sixth but still had three games to go to kick-start their campaign.
