On
Pitch B next was Spider Mans & Eagle versus
Missing Magpies. Missing Magpies had already
qualified for the Cup and needed a win to secure
the Group C title. They could possibly do it
with a draw if other results went their way.
Spider Mans & Majestic Eagle needed the
result more – a win would see them qualify.
A draw would be enough as long as Budapest Celtic
Greens didn't also win and also win big.
The
all-important first goal went to Spider Mans
& Majestic Eagle. Ryan Stevens, 1 of 2 Spider
Mans who had been ever-present on all 6 of their
European tours, scored the goal. It was a goal
that gave his team a 1-0 lead at the break.
In
the second half Nick McIntosh doubled the lead
for the Spider Mans team. He finished the 2016
Krakow Trophy as the third top scorer in the
tournament with an impressive tally of 10 goals.
In a lower scoring tournament, McIntosh was
now on 5 for the day here in Budapest.
It
was a great win for Spider Mans & Majestic
Eagle and a great way to finish the group campaign.
The win saw them rise to second place in the
table and secure their place in the Cup. For
Missing Magpies it was a disappointing way to
finish the group phase as they slipped to third
place but they had still done enough to qualify
for the Cup and would progress with a good record
of 3 wins, 1 draw and just this one defeat.
