Mavericks
versus Budapest Celtic Greens was next up in
what was a very interesting game in the middle
of Group C. Cup qualification was still possible
for both of these teams but they would have
to win both their remaining games. Budapest
Celtic Greens kicked off in fourth, Mavericks
in fifth.
Both
teams could consider themselves unfortunate
to be in the lower half of the table as both
teams had been competitive. The majority of
games in Group C had been decided by fine margins
and by the odd goal. It was felt the two teams
maybe just needed an extra bit of quality or
an extra bit of luck at the decisive moments
in games to get full reward for their efforts.
There was very little between the two teams
and the first half proved that as the teams
changed ends level at 0-0.
This
was to be another game to be decided by the
odd goal and it was Budapest Celtic Greens who
grabbed it in the second half. Joel Meijer was
the man to take the plaudits as his strike ensured
a first win of the day for the local team. The
result kept them in 4 th position but they were
still in the mix if they could win their final
game.
For
Maverick FC, it was another case of close but
no cigar.
