Group C was really hotting up as we entered Round 4. Match 10 of the group promised to be an intriguing encounter between Spider Mans & Majestic Eagle and Meglepetes. Spider Mans & Majestic Eagle were hoping to go one stage further than their Runners-Up finish in Krakow last year, Meglepetes were hoping to retain the title they won 12 months ago. Before kick-off it was the Majestic Eagles that held a 2 point advantage in the group standings.

Spider Mans & Eagle could guarantee a Cup place with a win. The same result for Meglepetes would almost certainly see them achieve the same objective (although not yet mathematically certain). A draw would obviously be a better result for Spider Mans & Majestic Eagle and also for Missing Magpies who could open up some daylight at the top (with them due to play Seagulls FC).

In all their previous games, both teams had been 0-0 at the break so we will fast forward to the second half. In keeping with those previous games we kicked off the second half level at 0-0. We would not end the half level though as one goal would decide these two teams.

That goal came from captain Peter Hegedus. He was the sole survivor of Meglepetes's title winning team last year and his goal in this fixture was a vital one. It meant the Hungarian team climbed above their opponents in the table. They would be first or second in the table at the end of Round 4 (subject to Missing Magpies result).

All was not lost for Spider Mans & Majestic Eagle. Their fate was still in their own hands as they went into Round 5.

The game that would take us into the final round of fixtures would be Missing Magpies versus Seagulls FC. As things stood at kick-off this was a top versus bottom fixture. Missing Magpies would have at least a share of the lead going into Round 5 if they could pick up a third successive win. Seagulls FC had lost their last two games and were on a negative momentum of results (0-0, 0-1, 0-3)

For Missing Magpies, in goal-scoring terms Round 2 had belonged to Stephen Doogan (x3) whilst Round 3 had belonged to Henry Pescod (x2). Round 4 belonged to both of them with a goal in each half. Henry Pescod got the ball rolling with a strike in the opening period. Stephen Doogan's goal after the break sealed the points. Final score, 2-0.

The result went with the form book and, due to Spider Mans' defeat, now enjoyed a 2 point lead going into the final round of games. It meant they had qualified for the Cup with a game to spare.
