The
Budapest Fives kicked off our 11th season - the
2017 season - in what was our 7th visit to the
Hungarian capital. Budapest Celtic had finished
as Runners-Up in 2011, 2012 and 2016 and, whilst
they won the 2013 Krakow Trophy, their "home"
tournament had eluded them - until now. The defeated
fellow Hungarian team JUBI Titans to claim the
victory.
In
the Plate competition there was travelling success
for Racing Literki FC representing Spain but featuring
a mix of Spanish and Polish players.. They defeated
another Budapest Celtic team (Greens) in the final
to secure the honours. The Wooden Spoon was claimed
by Maverick FC who also claimed the "wooden-ware"
at last year's Krakow Trophy..
The
personal honours were claimed by Stephen Doherty
of Red Light Runners who scored 7 on the day.
It was Stephen's second top goalscorer award after
also claiming the 2008 Barca Fives trophy.
