We were almost at the conclusion of Group B. Round 5 promised to give us an exhilarating climax to events. We had 4 teams all with a chance of making the Cup. The top 2 teams would automatically qualify and the two best third placed teams in the draw would join them. With Group A already finished and the third placed team there on 6 points we knew we would have 3 teams progress from Group B.

JUBI Titans were one of those teams in contention and had the toughest job in one sense as they were 3 points behind their 3 rivals for Cup qualification. They did have one advantage though as they were not playing one of their rivals for qualification but a team below them in the table – Budapest Celtic Whites. Budapest Celtic Whites could still finish above JUBI Titans with a win although that would only be good enough for fourth. However, it would represent two wins in a row and give them good momentum going into the Plate.

This was a must win game for JUBI Titans and they never looked like losing it. In fact, the win was hugely convincing and the biggest win in Group B. They scored twice in the first half and three more in the second to record a resounding 5-0 victory. They had five different goalscorers – Tamas Kovacs, Barnabas Kantor, Richard Gregus, Domonkos Muranyi and Szabolcs Szeman.

The win might not be enough though – they needed either a Tinniedad & Tobacco defeat and/or a win in The Rain Dragons versus Paralytic Athletic game.

The biggest game of Group B's final round of fixtures would be The Rain Dragons versus Paralytic Athletic. Knowing that third place would be good enough to qualify, these two teams could have played out a draw and ensured they would both go through. However, in true sporting style, the game was not played in that style – both teams were here to win.

A win would give the victor a very real chance of winning Group B (subject to the Tinnided & Tobacco result) and with it an easier draw in the Cup Quarter-Finals. There was still much to play for alongside honour and pride.

The game was delicately poised at half-time as we were all square at 1-1. Dan Martin was on target with his third of the day for The Rain Dragons. Alexander Wood also scored his third of the tournament for Paralytic Athletic.

The last round of games was scheduled to kick-off at the same time but over the course of the day the various pitches move out of sync which meant that JUBI Titans match had finished on Pitch B and they moved over to Pitch C to see the conclusion of this game. They will have been disappointed to see the game at 1-1 which would have knocked out JUBI Titans.

As the game reached its final stages there was to be a winner. Alexander Wood added to his first half goal to spark wild celebrations not only from the Paralytic Athletic squad but also from JUBI Titans on the touchline. Spare a thought for The Rain Dragons though whose chances of Cup qualification had just been extinguished.

Congratulations to Paralytic Athletic (and JUBI Titans) for qualifying for the Cup.

Into Game 15 of Group B and there was still Spider Mans & Mighty Falcon versus Tinniedad & Tobacco to decide how the table would look in the annals of history (yes, 2 x ‘n'). Tinniedad & Tobacco needed only a draw to reach the Cup but could win Group B with a win if The Rain Dragons v Paralytic Athletic was a draw. Even if there was a win in that one, Tinniedad could win it on goal difference.

Spider Mans & Mighty Falcon were rooted to the bottom of Group B and so it would be a brave person to bet on them taking something from this game given their illustrious opposition. This match did represent something of a re-match of the 2016 Krakow Trophy Cup Final where Tinniedad & Tobacco beat a Spider Mans and Eagle team to the winners' trophy in Poland. Could the Mighty Falcon do what their sister Eagles squad couldn't and beat the Tins?

Looking at the group table before kick-off, it was maybe no surprise that Jon McKinley gave Tinnieded & Tobacco the lead. Oliver Jackson doubled the advantage and it was 2-0 at half-time. Jon McKinley added his second of the game and fourth of the tournament to put the result beyond any doubt in the second half.

Congratulations to Tinnieded & Tobacco on winning Group B - a very competitive group it has to be said. They would go through to the Cup in fine form looking for their second tournament win. Spider Mans & Mighty Falcon would head into the Wooden Spoon play-off.
