Group B began with JUBI Titans versus Paralytic Athletic.

JUBI Titans (Hun) were technically on debut at the 2017 Budapest Fives but a number of their players formed part of the Meglepetes team that took glory at last year's tournament. They featured 4 members of that 2016 title winning team so will certainly be a team to look out for in what was shaping up to be a very strong line-up.

Paralytic Athletic were making their second eurofootballfives.com appearance after a strong showing at the 2016 Amsterdam Fives (more on that as we progress in this report). In Amsterdam they went all the way to the Cup Semi-Finals.

It was a strong match up on paper and so it also proved to be on the field of play. The two teams were unable to be separated and would each have to settle for a point as the game finished 0-0.

Next up was Budapest Celtic Whites of Hungary against Tinniedad & Tobacco of England. Budapest Celtic Whites were the second of three Celtic teams to get underway in the tournament. The Hoops had already drawn 0-0 in Group A so could Whites pick-up the first win for the home team. They would have a tough task against high quality opposition in the shape of Tinniedad & Tobacco.

Tinniedad & Tobacco entered the 2017 Budapest Fives on a high. At their most recent appearance they took victory at the 2016 Krakow Trophy.

They made their debut at the 2014 Barcelona Fives and they made an impressive start to life in eurofootballfives.com competition. They swept to glory in Group A with 10 points out of a maximum 12. The Cup Quarter-Final saw them defeat 2012 Valencia Fives chapions, FC Miracle of Hungary, 2-1. They then met 2013 Barcelona Fives champions, Los Swallacticos of NI, in the Semi-Finals. They were moments away from victory until a last gasp equaliser and a penalty shoot-out exit. Los Swallacticos conceded they were lucky to get through. In 2015 it was a case of déjà vu at the 2015 Berlin Fives. They won their group with 13 points from a maximum 15 before an entertaining 5-3 Quarter-Final win over Missing Magpies. In the Semi-Final they were 1-0 up going into the last minute where they conceded a penalty to draw 1-1 and a penalty shoot-out proved to be their undoing again.

There was no such misfortune in Krakow 12 months ago. They topped Group B with 4 wins and 12 points from 5 games. It was a third successive Cup qualification and a comprehensive 9-0 win over DHL Prague in the QF. A 4-2 win over Nowa Huta team in the Semi-Final ensured they had qualified for a first European final. Their opponents were Spider Mans & Eagle and, in a hugely entertaining game, Tinniedad emerged victorious.

With the game underway it was Tinniedad who struck first with Jon McKinley scoring their first goal Krakow. Half-time came and went with the score still at 1-0. After the break there was no further addition to the score as the English team bagged all 3 points.

Game 3 of Group B saw The Rain Dragons taking on Spider Mans & Mighty Falcon.

The Rain Dragons had swapped the Netherlands for Hungary to appear at the 2017 Budapest Fives. For the last three seasons they appeared at the Amsterdam Fives.

They debuted there in 2014 when they had two teams under the names of Big Dogs and Damn Big Dogs. They both played in Group B and finished 2nd and 3rd with Big Dogs missing out on winning the group only on goal difference. Both teams headed out in the Quarter-Finals with Damn Big Dogs succumbing to the eventual champions Athletico Do Hollande and the Big Dogs missing out to Return of the Dancing Horses III.

They returned as The Rain Dragons in 2015. A successful group phase saw them finish second in Group B with 3 wins and 2 draws in 6 games. The tournament was then curtailed by Storm Zejko.

At the 2016 Amsterdam event they began well with a 1-0 win over We Pay People but then struggled with a small squad and some injuries. Three successive defeats meant they finished 5th to go through to the Plate competition. Their form improved in the knock-out phase with 5-2 wins in the Quarter-Finals over Mixed Up and Semi-Finals over Wizards of WhatsApp. With 3 wins over Dutch opposition they would fancy their chances of a fourth over Team Koopman in the Plate Final. The game finished 4-4 and penalties would decide the Plate title. The shoot-out was one of epic proportions finishing 10-9. Sadly for the Rain Dragons they were on the wrong end of the result.

An even first half finished level at 0-0 but the Rain Dragons surged to victory after the break thanks to goals from Jordan Handy (2) and Dan Martin.
