Budapest
Celtic Greens were up next as they took on Missing
Magpies. Both teams had taken a point against
strong opposition in Round 1, could either kick
on here?
Missing
Magpies first stop on the eurofootballfives.com
tour was the Amsterdam Fives in 2012 where they
had an impressive debut. They finished 2nd in
their 6-team group and were only beaten to the
title by (now) 3-times eurofootballfives.com
winners, Athletico Do Hollande. They went on
to the Cup Semi-Finals and missed out on a debut
final after defeat to El A Dees. The 2014 Barcelona
Fives saw them draw a very tough group that
included 2013 winners Los Swallacticos of NI
and eventual 2014 winners Monexy of Ukraine.
They finished a more than respectable 3rd. In
the Plate competition they stormed to a 4-0
Quarter-Final win over Ireland's Balotellitubbies
before a 3-1 defeat to (now) double Plate winners
Naranjitos of Spain.
Missing
Magpies most recent appearance was at the 2015
Berlin Fives. They got off to a flyer in their
6-team group with a 1-0 win over SV Zoo, a 2-1
win over 9 Nana Budds and a 2-1 win over DHFC.
There was a dip in results at the end of the
group phase with defeats to Titanium Hollyrollers
and Pink Flamingos B. It meant they finished
3 rd of 6 teams but had still done enough to
qualify for the Cup. It meant they would have
a difficult Quarter-Final draw. They drew Tinniedad
& Tobacco (here today in Group B) and went
out 5-3.
Here
in Budapest, Stephen Doogan was setting Pitch
A alight with a quickfire hat-trick that won
all three points for the Missing Magpies. A
Boris Pavlovski goal for Budapest Celtic Greens
proved to be a mere consolation as the English
team ran out 3-1 winners.
