DYDDFC (Eng)

We were down to our final 4 teams in the Plate competition with 3 teams out of 4 representing host nation Hungary and the final team, DYDDFC of England.

The first Semi-Final would see an all Hungarian contest with Csabagyongye versus Budapest Celtic Pumas. Csabagyongye started slowly and quickly found themselves 2-0 down as Lajos Dombradi and Kieran Fahy scored to put the Pumas in a commanding position at the break.

At this stage of the tournament with the teams getting stronger it is always difficult to come from two goals down. It would be a tough ask but not impossible as Csabagyongye had already comeback from a losing position twice today although just the one goal.

David Kemeny pulled one back to make it 2-1 and the comeback was on. Gergo Saling put Csabagyongye on level terms at 2-2. What could the Pumas do? They had to go out and win it again but the comeback for the home named team was complete when Kemeny again made it 3-2. It was an unbelievable comeback and Csabagyongye were making a name for themselves as the comeback kings in this tournament!

The second Semi-Final was the last chance for a travelling team to prevent the host nation picking up the Plate trophy. What could DYDDFC manage?

They were up against Stani's Mates who had stormed into the Semi-Finals with a resounding 7-0 win. They continued where they left off in the Quarter-Finals as captain Peter Hegedus scored a brace to make it 2-0 at half-time. Time was running out for DYDDFC and when Arpad Viranyi made it 3-0 the game was pretty much up.

We sadly had to say farewell to DYDDFC on this occasion but they had been a great asset to the tournament along with their colleagues at Spice Boys. Stani's Mates would progress and they would meet Csabagyongye in the Plate Final.
