Game 7 of Group B was an important fixture for both Luminy Wolves and The Spice Boys. The two teams were locked together at the top of Group B and a win here would give the victors pole position and a 5 point lead over the teams in third. This was a great opportunity to stake a claim for the Group B title.

It was a fast start by the French who raced into a 2-0 lead with an Allan Gosselin double (4 goals in 2 games) and the first goals that The Spice Boys had conceded. How would they respond to going behind for the first time?

Pretty well but, in Luminy Wolves, they had opponents who were very secure at the back and always going to be tough to break down. Cyril Garcia had only conceded one so far today and a clean sheet in this one helped earn his team all 3 points and they had a great advantage at the top of the table.

 
 
 

It's Back versus Intermore FC was the next game on Pitch C and was a battle between the 5th and 6th placed teams although a win would see either team move into joint 2nd . With so many draws in Group B a win was like gold dust.

A draw would not be much use but would see four teams all on two points and that's exactly what we got as both halves came and went without the scorer being troubled. Goalkeepers Simon Hawkins (It's Back) and Gerard Ryan (Intermore FC) both collected their second clean sheet in three games.

The other two teams on two points were Budapest Celtic Lions and Dickie Dogs. Both teams were looking for a win to go second and it was first blood to the Lions as Gabor Harsonyi gave his team a vital lead.

Things were to get better for them in the second half as Heike Bult made it 2-0. When Harsonyi made it 3-0 it was game over and a massive win for the Lions. It was a disappointing result for the Dickie Dogs and we probably take some of the blame with commentator's curse for mentioning their 6-game unbeaten record in the group phase. Game 7 was far from lucky 7.
