Last but not least, we come to Group C where the group began with home side Csabagyongye taking on English debutants ACE & The Swagmen. Csabgyongye made their debut in the 2011 Budapest Fives and almost created history when they were only seconds away from knocking Olympic Phil Babb out in the Cup Semi-Finals and preventing them retaining their 100% record. They then went on to compete in the 2011 Valencia Fives where they won Group A with a 100% record of their own. It was a surprise to see them go out in the Cup Quarter Finals in a 9-goal thriller, 6-3 to Spanish side Rollert FS.

This was certainly a daunting start for ACE & The Swagmen but one that didn't seem to worry them as Dan Burkwood swept them into the lead with just seconds on the clock. It was a cracking start and the first goal of the day in the entire tournament – they must have though this eurofootballfives.com lark was easy!

ACE & The Swagmen had been playing down their chances the evening before the tournament but this must have buoyed their confidence. Csabagyongye would not lie down though and managed to pull a goal back before the break through Gergo Koczka. The teams started the second half level at 1-1 with Csabagyongye successfully defending the opening seconds this time before Koczka gave the Hungarians a 2-1 lead. He went on to bag his hat-trick to make it 3-1 and Csabagyongye took all 3 points.

Match 2 in Group C saw the second French team in the draw, L'Albiceleste, meet Exeter Gently. L'Albiceleste were making their debuts but Exeter Gently were no strangers to eurofootballfives.com making appearance number three following a debut in Portugal's sunny 2010 Algarve Open and then the 2011 Barcelona Fives. They entered two teams on each occasion with the Your Mum's Athletic squad going furthest in Portugal losing in the Plate Semi-Finals to winners Vodafone FC. In Barcelona again the Your Mum's Athletic team was the more successful reaching the Cup Quarter-Finals. How will they fare in Budapest 2012 under their new name?

It was a tough start against a well organized French team and it would get even tougher when Thibault Kerouredan gave his team a 1-0 lead before half-time. In the second half there was no way back for Exeter Gently who were unable to beat Mickael Martin in the L'Albiceleste goal.

The last two teams to get underway were Budapest Celtic Pumas of Hungary versus The Mersey White Sox. The Pumas were the third of the Budapest Celtic squads in this tournament and had a hugely successful Barcelona Fives tournament just two weeks ago winning their group and going out in the Cup Semi-Finals by Golden Goal. They had a much changed squad today but would certainly hope to emulate their Barcelona achievements.

The Mersey White Sox were making their debut in our tournaments but they come with a very experienced player – Chris Williams of Goldsmith Williams. Goldsmith Williams will be competing in the 2012 Mallorca Tournament for Goldsmith Williams in June and we wonder if The Mersey White Sox will be as successful as his other team? Goldsmith Williams have a great record winning the 2008 Prague Masters and 2010 Amsterdam Fives plus finishing runners-up in the 2009 Prague Masters and 2009 Barca Fives. In the 2011 Algave Open they were defeated 3-1 in the Cup Semi-Final by two-time Algarve champions Athletico Do Hollande ending their run of always reaching the final.

The two teams certainly had good records on paper and on the pitch it was a close match as you may have expected. There was just one goal to separate the teams as Joe Langley struck the winning blow to earn The Mersey White Sox all 3 points with a 1-0 win.
