Round 3 started with Csabagyongye taking on the Mersey White Sox. The Hungarian team had started off with victory but then slipped to defeat. They would want to return to winning ways to get their tournament challenge back on track. Meanwhile, The Mersey White Sox had a 100% record and if they could keep that up would move 5 points clear at the top of Group C – at least in the short-term.

 

A goal from Ste Scragg would help them on their way but they conceded their first goal of the day when David Kemeny struck for Csabagyongye. That's how it finished and The Mersey White Sox stretched their lead to 3 points ahead of their opponents here, Csabagyongye, and L'Albiceleste with the French team having a game in hand.

 
 
 

Exeter Gently and Budapest Celtic Pumas had both secured their first points of the day last time out with Exeter Gently taking a victory. For the English team there was a chance to move into 2nd place with a win. A draw would see them join Csabagyongye and L'Albiceleste on 4 points whereas a win for the Pumas would achieve the same result for them.

 

Group C was getting tighter and tighter as the fixtures progressed and this fixture was proving that to be the case. The teams could not be split in the first half as we entered the break 0-0. The scorers remained untroubled in the second period as the two defences remained on top with goalkeepers keeping their clean sheets. Final score, 0-0.

 
 
 

L'Albiceleste could join The Mersey White Sox on top of Group C with a victory in their next game and a win by more than 2 goals would see them top on goal difference. They would play ACE & The Swagmen who despite scoring the fastest goal of the day were still looking for their first points.

 

You would therefore expect a French win and the game went to form early on with Fateh Bekhouche giving the team from Paris the lead. Captain Cedric Casterede doubled the lead before half-time and all was going well for them.

 

After the interval Thibault Kerouredan made it 3-0 and the result was no longer in dount. L'Albiceleste had the win they needed and the margin of victory they needed to top Group C. ACE & The Swagmen had two more games to get on the Group C scoreboard.
