Group B began with two established teams on the eurofootballfives.com circuit and it was a cracker of a game. Luminy Wolves would meet Budapest Celtic Lions with the former having quite a history in our tournaments making 3 appearances in Barcelona;

2009 Barca Fives: Champions – beating Goldsmith Williams (Eng) and Lozenetz City (Bul) along the way. Both teams are 2-times eurofootballfives.com champions.

2011 Barcelona Fives: Cup QF exit – surprisingly lost on penalties to 2008 winners Rapid Bosco Navas (Spa) despite being the best team in the tournament.

2011 Barca Fives: Cup SF exit – losing to eventual winners Midshires FC (Eng).

Budapest Celtic Lions had progressed from the group to the Cup competition on both their previous appearances. Their most recent outing was in the 2012 Barcelona Fives and was also their most successful when they made the Cup Semi-Final losing on penalties to Irish team Saipan FC.

It was the Hungarian team that took the lead with an epic goal. Think Zola for Chelsea versus Norwich with a back-heel flick at the near-post from a corner and you have a great description of Poncho's goal that gave the Lions a great lead. It looked for long periods like it would be the winning goal as Luminy Wolves hit back but couldn't find the equaliser until late on. A sweeping passing move resulted in a narrow miss at the far post before Haikel Ben Khlaifa drew the teams level. Final score, 1-1. A great game and both teams looking in fine form.

Match 2 saw Dickie Dogs take on It's Back. Dickie Dogs made an impressive debut in the 2010 Valencia Fives by claiming the Group C title with an undefeated record of 3 wins and 1 draw. They then came undone against tournament runners-up, Galacticos, in the Cup Quarter-Finals.

It's Back made their debut in the 2010 Barcelona Fives where they finished second in their 6-team group before being knocked out in the Cup Semi-Final 2-1 by eventual champions Magic Monkeys. In the 2011 Prague Masters they reached the Plate Semi-Finals before going down 2-0 to Ireland's Saipan FC.

A close match on paper and that's the way it proved with both teams showing solid defensive form and neither attack finding the back of the net. Another draw, this time 0-0 and Group B was looking to be as tight as a duck's backside.

The final teams in Group B to start their challenge were Intermore FC versus The Spice Boys. Intermore FC of Ireland were making their third appearance in Budapest. They made their debut in Krakow 2010 and finished second in their group before bowing out at the quarter-final stage to eventual runners-up, Pimp My Side. Twelve months on in Barcelona they went all the way to the Plate Final where they were unlucky to finish runners-up, 1-0, in a very tight match against Bristol Bridge.

Spice Boys were making their debut and were the sister squad of DYDDFC. We were yet to see the team in action and were Group B's unknown quantity. With the opening two games finishing level there was an opportunity for the two teams in this match to grab an early 2 point lead at the top of the table.

At half-time the game was still 0-0 and we were looking at another draw until Simon Kerry of The Spice Boys broke the deadlock and wrapped up 3 points for the Englsih team. Intermore FC, although defeated, could take solace in the fact that with the other teams drawing they'd not lost too much ground.
