Round 5 began with L'Albiceleste (Fra) versus Polonia Limerick (Pol).

L'Albiceleste had been strolling at the top of Group C with 3 wins out of 3 but the draw in their last game had opened the door for Norfolk N Chance who were now just one point behind. That would all be academic should L'Albiceleste win this one but anything less than a win gave Norfolk N Chance a huge opportunity.

Polonia Limerick were virtually assured of a place in the Plate but a draw would mathematically secure that. It looked like they might get more than a draw though as it was Polonia Limerick who took the lead. Dominik Olczak scored his third of the day to go 1-0 up. It was the first goal L'Albicleste had conceded today and was a shock on the cards? Not if Cedric Castarede had anything to do with it as he equalized for 1-1 at half-time.

Polonia Limerick were proving to be a real thorn in the L'Albiceleste side though and they forged ahead again with Edward Przekwas putting them 2-1 up. L'Albiceleste were staring at defeat – they were unbeaten in 14 games in Barcelona so this would be a real shock. L'Albiceleste managed to rescue the situation though with Lionel de Linh making it 2-2. It stretched L'Albiceleste's unbeaten record in Barcelona to 15 games but they dropped 2 points. A great game and great performance from both teams.

The penultimate game in Group C was Rapid B Pavas versus Littleborough FC. The former team could reach 8 points with a win. If they did that and finished in third place then they had a chance of Cup qualification depending on what was happening in other groups.

Littleborough FC were playing to finish the group on a high and if they could take victory then they had a chance of becoming the best 6 th placed team which would see them avoid the Wooden Spoon game.

A couple of 0-0 draws in a row had slowed Rapid B Pavas's progress up the table but this game would not be a third successive stalemate. Cecilio Garcia Leon put his team 1-0 up and the goals started to flow. Miguel A Tarrasa Sampedro made it 2-0 before Faustino Lopez scored for 3-0. It was only half-time.

In the second half Xavier Sola Rodriguez extended the lead to 4-0 but the second half was closer and indeed Littleborough FC got some reward for their efforts. Sam Holt was the man with the goal but it was only to be a consolation in a 4-1 losing cause.

Into Game 15 of Group C and we had Norfolk N Chance versus BBA Veterans for the climax of the group fixtures. Norfolk N Chance could finish no worse than second and other results meant they had already secured Cup qualification. They had the opportunity to win Group C though and would need a win to achieve that.

BBA Veterans still had a chance of reaching the Cup themselves. They had to win to finish on 8 points but win big to move above Rapid B Pavas on goal difference. The Spanish were on +5 whereas BBA Veterans were on -1 so, against the potential group winners, this was maybe an ask too far.

BBA Veterans had suffered like Rapid B Pavas in terms of too many draws. They had kept 3 clean sheets in 4 games and the only goals conceded were against L'Albiceleste. Could they score at the other end though was the big question.

It was another close low-scoring game but Norfolk N Chance did manage to find the winner they craved. It came from Kerry Fussell with his first goal of the tournament and what a valuable goal it proved to be. It helped earn his team the Group C win – a fantastic achievement.
