Three games to go in Round 5 and we began with Toe Punters versus Argon'ze B. Toe Punters had largely played well today but they largely missed a ruthless streak in front of goal. They didn't concede too many and were often only beaten by the odd goal. They were currently in fifth place and due to play the team immediately below them.

Argon'ze B were also finding it tough in front of goal – both these teams had scored 2 each from their 4 games. Defensively Argon'ze had been the leakier of the two defences up until now. A win for either team would see them qualify for the Plate competition. A draw would achieve that for Toe Punters (certainly) and possibly for Argon'ze if they ended up being the top 6 th placed team. The loser of this game would most likely be contesting the Wooden Spoon game this afternoon.

With half of this game gone we were still locked together at 0-0. The game would not end goalless though. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Leopold Bouraux for Argon'ze B. His goal was the difference between the two teams as they leapfrogged their opponents in the Group B table. Argon'ze B would indeed qualify for the Plate and Toe Punters would go through to the Wooden Spoon.

The penultimate game of Group B in 2022 was a repeat of the opening game of Group B in 2021 as Club Esportiu Llefia took on AFC Blue Boys. The Spanish team would have fond memories of that game 12 months ago as they secured a 5-1 victory despite Michal Cedrowski put the travelling team ahead. CE Llefia hit back though as Carlos Perez Tornay equalized and went on to complete a hat-trick with additional goals from Francisco Lorenzo Gonzalez and Sergi Garcia Arguile.

As things stood, AFC Blue Boys were two points ahead of their opponents and needed just a point to secure Cup qualification. A win would guarantee them the Group B title. Defeat would see Club Esportiu Llefia climb above them and they could potentially slip to third but with 10 points they should be safe for reaching the Cup anyway.

Club Esportiu Llefia's position was more vulnerable. Although they could win Group B with a victory a draw or defeat could see them slip into the Plate subject to the result in the final group game and other games elsewhere. This match was critical to CE Llefia's defence of the title but they got off to the perfect start – they lead 1-0 thanks to Francisco Lorenzo Gonzalez. However, Tomasz Sieradzan levelled things up before the break.

We kicked off the second half level at 1-1 and it stayed that way for much of the second period. Artur Sukiennik then put AFC Blue Boys 2-1 up and it seemed to deflate CE Llefia. AFC Blue Boys finished with a flourish as Tomasz Sieradzan completed a hat-trick – the only one in Group B. AFC Blue Boys won 4-1, won Group B and were looking good.

Game 15 of Group B was a huge game at the top of the table. AFC Blue Boys had won the group but there was 1 (definitely) and possibly 2 Cup qualification places available. Club Esportiu Llefia were on 8 points with TBC FC and W London on 7 points each and due to meet in this final game.

In effect, this was a winner takes all game. The winner would finish in second place and take that guaranteed Cup place. This would then leave Club Esportiu Llefia sweating on if 8 points would be enough to also go through. The loser would finish fourth and progress to the Plate.

The game began with W London pushing for goals with TBC FC playing a more conservative approach. As we approached half-time we were still level at 0-0 but there was a controversial moment from a corner which Ben Clare bundled in amongst claims for a foul on the goalkeeper. The referee disagreed and TBC FC lead 1-0 at the break.

The pressure was now really on W London but they were playing in a determined fashion and they bagged an equalizer mid-way through the second half. Should the game end in a draw then we would have 3 teams locked on 8 points. The goal difference would be Club Esportiu Llefia (+1), W London (+5) and TBC FC (0). So a draw would be enough for W London.

We are not sure if they were aware of this as they were pushing for the win. In the end they got it with a shot that clipped in off the post as they took the win 2-1. It meant W London would qualify for the Cup in second place. As it turned out Club Esportiu Llefia had not done enough to reach the Cup – they would go to the Plate with TBC FC and the Spanish team's title defence was over.
