Group B was initially due to be different to Groups A and C in the sense that we had an extra team – an extra game each but shorter games. However, Panda Coffee Spot of Greece in Group C withdrew from the tournament late on the eve of the tournament. So, we drew a team from Group B to replace Panda Coffee Spot in Group B and that team was Rapid B Pavas. We re-arranged the fixtures and Group B would now also have 6 teams and operate the same way as Groups A & C.

We began with Argon'ze B versus AFC Blue Boys as France met Poland. Both teams were regulars in our events and we will preview each of them in more detail as we progress with this report.

The two teams played out an entertaining first half which boasted three goals. Artur Sukiennik opened the scoring to make it 1-0 for AFC Blue Boys but Argon'ze B were level when Ousamma Samim equalised. AFC Blue Boys were back in front before half-time thanks to Daniel Kuty.

AFC Blue Boys completed the victory in the second period. Jaroslaw Skowronski scored the goal that put AFC Blue Boys 3-1 up and ended any hopes of an Argon'ze B comeback. It was three points to Poland at the start of Group B.

 
 
 

Match 2 in Group B saw Toe Punters versus W London.

Toe Punters (Eng) made their debut as recently as the 2022 Amsterdam Fives. They made a solid start with a 2-2 draw against Amsterdam Barbarians. They then suffered a couple of defeats (3-1 and 3-0) to Atletico Armada and Groove Armada before getting their first win on the board. It was a 4-1 win over Minisernal.They finished their group stage campaign with a 3-2 victory over Spider Mans & Eagle. They finished fourth and qualified for the Plate competition. A third succeesive win saw them despatch Red Cow Belgrade (3-2) in the Semi-Finals. Their winning run came to an end in the Plate Final but they secured a 1-1 draw against Columbia's Finest FC to take the game to a penalty shootout. They emerged victorious 3-1 on spot kicks to take home the trophy.

W London were on debut so we would not know what to expect from them at this stage but they gave an excellent account of themselves. A clean sheet for Pejman Saghatchi and goals for Malek Mansour and Darius Plummer in each half secured them a fine 2-0 victory and ensured another slow start for Toe Punters.

 
 
 

The next two teams to get underway in Round 1 were Club Esportiu Llefia against TBC FC.

The former were very experienced in this event making their seventh consecutive appearance at the tournament which included two Cup wins (2015 & 2021) and a Plate win (2016). The latter were making their very first eurofootballfives.com appearance and they got off to a flyer. Matt Dodds opened the scoring for TBC FC in the opening half (although some of his team-mates who shall remain anonymous did try and take the goal off him as an OG instead).

The second half kicked off with TBC FC still a goal to the good. Club Esportiu Llefia showed their quality and experience after the break though as they hit back to make it 1-1. Ivan Moreno Gomez scored his team's first of the day and it earned Club Esportiu Llefia a point.

Having been ahead, it must have felt like a disappointment for TBC FC but we think it was a good result against the defending champions. It was a solid start for both teams with the points shared. Final score, 1-1.
