TBC
FC were next up on Pitch B as they took on Toe
Punters. The two teams could both argue their
performances had probably deserved more than
the league table showed.
Both
teams had been competitive throughout even against
high quality opposition. Toe Punters had taken
a draw off AFC Blue Boys (joint top coming into
Round 4) and almost secured a point against
the defending champions. TBC FC did get a point
against the latter but had lost to the Polish
team.
We
expected a close game and so it was great news
for TBC FC when they opened the scoring after
a matter of seconds via Matthew Dreeze. It gave
them the initiative and put the onus on Toe
Punters to get back into the game which they
were unable to do before the break. 1-0 at HT.
In the
second half, Sam Bower and his defence earned
a first clean sheet of the day which meant TBC
FC took all 3 points. They were really in the
mix for Cup qualification as just 1 point now
separated the 4 top sides (with AFC Blue Boys
& W London still to play).
