We
were down to the final four teams in our Trophy
competition and first up was Nothigam Pressa versus
Sporting Abeergut…..at least it would have been
if Nothigam Pressa were still present. It later
turned out that because they finished bottom of
their group they thought their day's activities
were over and didn't realize they had the Trophy
to play in. Sporting Abeergut therefore benefitted
with a bye to the Trophy Final.
That
meant we quickly turned our attentions to FC Dad
versus Los Langeros. These two teams finished
fifth in their respective groups each returning
4 points (1 win, 1 draw, 3 defeats) and with very
similar goal differences 5-11 for Los Langeros
and 6-12 for FC Dad. If you were a betting man
looking at the form you'd struggle to pick a winner…..
If
the two teams looked evenly matched on paper,
they looked equally matched on the pitch. Half-time
came and went with the two teams still tied at
0-0. We were to witness a decisive outcome in
the second period as first of all Calum Jones
and secondly James Roden fired FC Dad into the
Trophy Final.
It
was farewell to Los Langeros and we thank them
for making the effort to attend the 2012 Valencia
Fives. It was a pleasure to meet the debut players
and to see again those who attended our Barcelona
tournament. Until next time…..adios.
