Round 3 started with Team GB versus Alphasights. These teams were two of four teams who could conceivably lead Group C after this round of fixtures. They were two of four teams separated by just a point and a win for either team here would see the victor in a very healthy position in Group C.

The early advantage went to Alphasights who opened up a 2-0 lead by half-time through Dave Griffiths and Craig Hinde. They were in the driving seat but the game was far from over. Team GB staged a comeback in the second half as Indi Gill made the first strike to get his team back in it – he had now scored in each of Team GB's games.

The goals flowed in the second half for both teams and as Alex Wilson bagged a brace for Team GB there were goals for Jonny Patterson and Andreas Friedberg for Alphasights.

The final score read 4-3 to Alphasights and they jumped to the top of Group C on six points. Team GB remained on 3 points and occupied mid-table.

 
 
 

The next scheduled fixture was Grant Thornton versus Deportivo. Grant Thornton led the table before Alphasight's victory and so the French needed a win here to return to the top. Deportivo had just secured their first point and could go level with Grant Thornton with a win of their own. We were about half way through Group C and on the evidence we'd seen so far, anyone was capable of beating anyone.

To beat anyone though you need to score goals and goals were conspicuous by their absence in the first half. The teams reached the interval level at 0-0. The goals flowed in the second half though and we had three of them to enjoy. Grant Thornton scored two of them through Olivier Douard and Cedric Castarede.

Deportivo's goal was a fine solo effort from Rupert Bright (resplendent in salmon boots) but, alas for them, it proved to be a consolation and they stayed in 6th place. Grant Thornton were poles apart at the top of Group C.

 
 
 

Draw specialists, The Mavericks, were next in action against Leones FC of Spain. Whilst remaining unbeaten was impressive the draws meant The Mavericks were treading water in Group C and were in 5th position. What they really needed was three points to surge up the table.

Leones FC had just registered their first win of the day so would come into this game with confidence. As with the previous game though we entered half-time at 0-0…..proving that Group C really was as tight as two coats of paint.

Again with shades of the Grant Thornton versus Deportivo game we had three goals after the break and we also had two goals for the home-named team. Michael Vasos of The Mavericks claimed both to earn his team the victory and with the three points in the bag they rose to 3rd position in the table. They were still unbeaten and looking strong. The defeat left Leones FC in 4th.
