Round 2 started with Team GB against Grant Thornton. Team GB enjoyed opening game victory and if they could replicate that here would take command of Group C. Grant Thornton were held to a draw in their opening fixture and would look to build upon that and leapfrog their opponents with a win.

Grant Thornton started this game as they had the first by forging a first half lead. Last time out they had a 1-0 lead. In this game they had a larger cushion by leading 3-1. They largely had captain Cedric Castarede to thank for the lead as he claimed all three goals with a superb hat-trick.

Alex Wilson's goal for Team GB kept his side in it and they fought back well in the second period as Indi Gill (3 in 2 games) and Alex Wilson again found a way past the French defence. Unfortunately they were unable to keep the door shut at the back as Thibault Kerouredan and Olivier Douard scored for Grant Thornton.

The final score of 5-3 crowned a very entertaining game and saw Grant Thornton go top in the embryonic stages of Group C.

 
 
 

Alphasights continued their challenge when they came up against Leones FC. The English side were looking to make it 2 wins out of 2 whereas the Spanish needed to put a slender defeat behind them and register their first points of the day.

The opening goal of this game went against the form book as it was the Spanish team who took the lead. Alphasights good run of form in Europe was now being seriously put to the test. Could they make a comeback? If they could the prize of top spot in Group C would be their reward – either solely with a win or jointly with a draw.

Their task was made twice as difficult when Leones FC doubled their advantage after the break. The Spanish were strong enough to hold on and complete the 2-0 victory. It made the group really interesting – of the four teams who had played two games only 1 point separated them all.

 
 
 

The final game of the round was Deportivo versus The Mavericks. Deportivo's opening game defeat saw them at the foot of the table but a win here would see them rise to joint second. Team Maverick had a point on the board and a win for them would see them go joint top.

 

A draw would leave the teams lying in 5th and 6th position but that result looked the most likely result when the teams arrived at half-time all square at 0-0. At full time we were to witness goals but still nothing could split the teams as Mathew Foster's second of the tournament and Manish Madhvani's third of the tournament cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw.

 

It was a second successive draw for The Mavericks and a first point of the day for Deportivo.
