We were down to our final 4 teams in the Plate competition. The first Semi-Final would see FC Tpaktop I take on The A Team.

We mentioned in the Quarter-Final write up that The A Team had three Cup Finals on their CV with us. They had played in the Plate competition twice before and both their runs ended at this Semi-Final stage. It should be said this was a long time ago with both those appearances in 2014 at the Budapest Fives and Mallorca Tournament. 10 years on, they'd be hoping lightning would not strike again.

FC Tpaktop were hoping for a derby in the Plate Final with both their teams in Semi-Final action. At the end of the group phase FC Tpaktop II had defeated The A Team 2-0 to end the French team's hopes of Cup qualification. Could FC Tpaktop I go one step further and end their involvement in the competition.

It started well enough for The A Team with Charly Miampu scoring his fifth goal of the competition. That's as good as it got though. FC Tpaktop I stormed back with an equalizer from Oleg Bliznets – his first of the day. Albert Abutaliev was their top scorer with 4 goals today and his fifth put FC Tpaktop I ahead at 2-1. The game was sealed when Abtuliev scored again, 3-1. The A Team had 3 wins from 5 games before they ran into FC Tpaktop but consecutive defeats against the two CIS teams saw them eliminated from the tournament. It was also a hat-trick of Plate Semi-Final defeats for The A Team.

Whilst FC Tpaktop I were in the process of reaching the Plate Final on Pitch C. Simultaneously, FC Tpaktop II and Mitre FC Vets were making their bid to reach the Plate Final against each other on Pitch B.

The English team were the tournament's last hope of preventing FC Tpaktop sweeping the board at Plate level. Mitre FC Vets were looking like bowing out until the final round of games in Group A. A final game victory in the group preceded a sensational win in the Quarter-Finals. Could they keep this run going?

Steve Ashman had been the key man for Mitre FC Vets in terms of goals and he was to boost his tally to 7 to give his side the lead. Artiom Vlasov was his corresponding figure for FC Tpaktop II and he equalized with his 6 th of the tournament. It then became a slug-fest between these two. Steve Ashman made it 2-1, Artiom Vlasov equalized at 2-2. Steve Ashman completed his hat-trick for 3-2, Artiom Vlasov completed his hat-trick for 3-3. We finished all square and would require penalties to separate the teams.

Mitre FC lead from the front with penalties as Lewis Ball scored but Leonid Sislo missed. In the second round of spot-kicks Steve Ashman and Artiom Vlasov were pitted together again and both scored. FC Tpaktop were thrown a lifeline as Jonathan MacDonald missed but Timur Garifzyanov scored to take us into sudden death. It was a short reprieve for FC Tpaktop II because Aleksandr Tabunsic failed to convert his penalty which meant Jose Roberto Corrodus' penalty was to be the winner. A massive well done to them.
