With 7 teams in each group, 1 team would sit out each round. In Round 1 it was IFC Prague (Cze) but they would kick us off in the second round of fixtures having had a chance to evaluate their opposition from Round 1. They were up against FC Mahou.

For FC Mahou returning to Prague would hold happy memories. It was the scene for the first of their 4x eurofootballfives.com titles when they were victorious here at the 2011 Prague Masters. They were virtually faultless that day picking up wins against Fridays (Cze), Kehar Club (Cze), Wafty Crankers (Eng), Slow & Old United (Sco) before a surprise defeat to DHL Prague (Cze) albeit in a dead rubber at the end of the group. In the knockout they defeated Kehar Club in the QF, FC Xaverov in the SF via Golden Goal and then Deportivo (Cze) 1-0 in the final.

Curiously enough, IFC Prague featured a player that played for DHL Prague in the win against FC Mahou some 13 years ago. Back in 2024 it was FC Mahou who forged ahead to make it 1-0 before Jeremie Touret levelled for IFC Prague. FC Mahou were not to be denied a second win though as Iain Raisbeck scored a winning goal, 2-1.

In the next game we had Mitre FC Vets versus FC Tpaktop I. Both teams were looking to respond to opening game defeats.

FC Tpaktop I competed at veterans level for the first time at the 2023 Mallorca Veterans. They opened up with a 2-1 win over The Warriors before slipping to a 4-1 defeat against Les 5 Salopards. They were back to winning ways again with a 3-1 victory against ACE & The Swagmen. They finished the group by losing 4-0 to eventual champions Duktil Balear. Third place meant Plate qualification and they defeated Peebles All Stars, 1-0, in the Quarter-Finals. They drew 1-1 with Polonia Limerick in the Semi-Finals but left the competition losing 4-2 on penalties.

FC Tpaktop also played in the Open Age in Mallorca where they beat Gosham Rangers 3-1 and then drew 0-0 with Riptide. A 2-0 win over AFC Blue Boys saw them go top but a 1-0 defeat to Santander FC saw them slip to third place in the final table and miss out on the Cup by just 1 point. They met World Pinteur in the Semi-Finals of the Plate and drew 0-0 but penalties were also the downfall of the Open Age team, 3-0.

The CIS team seemed to put that opening loss behind them quickly with Konstantin Shirokov putting them 1-0 up. Mohammed Brett scored to make it 2-0 before Albert Abutaliev completed a fine 3-0 success.

The final game of Round 2 was Southgate Tourists against AC Motxto International.

Last year Southgate competed at the 2023 Mallorca Veterans with 2 teams. Southgate Tourists began well with a 2-1 win over Legends of the Vale before losing an 11-goal thriller (8-3) to Trojans. They were back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Los Amblos before a final game defeat to World Pinteur Mature. They finished third in the table to qualify for the Plate. A 2-0 win over Wafty Crankers in the Quarters saw them meet ACE & The Swagmen in the Semis. They lost narrowly 1-0 to exit the competition. Their second team had a really tough group with FC Miracle, FC Poloboc, Polonia Limerick and Wafty Crankers. They lost all 4 games and went through to the Wooden Spoon competition. They defeated Legends of the Vale (4-1) and The Maulers (5-2) to collect the Wooden Spoon trophy.

Today, there was no shame in losing to 4x champions FC Mahou but they were looking to get their first win on the board against a Spanish side that had picked up a 3-2 win in their first outing. It started well for Southgate Tourists as Patrick Ball put them one goal to the good. AC Motxto were a goal down to an English team in Round 1 and recovered and they were to repeat the feat here. Luis Ricardo Denche Pulido was the man to level things up at 1-1. In Round 1, AC Motxto went on to win but this time they would have to settle for a draw.
