Group B of the 2024 Prague Veterans kicked off with two familiar teams – AFC Shooters (Eng) versus World Pinteur (Fra). Both teams have graced our events over the years

AFC Shooters were with us as recently as the 2023 Barcelona Veterans in October. IT was a tough group that featured the eventual winners and also teams that had previously won titles in our events. They fell to opening game defeat against Dickie Dogs, 1-0. They then lost 5-0 to Hungary's FC Miracle before getting 3 points on the board with a 2-0 win over Mitre Vets. Two narrow defeats followed to Bure Park Old Boys (1-0) and FC Poloboc (3-1) before a final game defeat to Cheesecake FC, 6-1. The defeat meant they finished in 7 th place and were eliminated.

They had a tough opening fixture against a French team who had appeared in finals with us. We will preview World Pinteur in due course. The French team had a habit of making good starts in our Veterans events having won their opening fixture on each occasion. This was a run that was set to continue with Eric Lemoisson scoring twice. The World Pinteur defence was solid with Benoit Botteau's defence standing firm.

A 2-0 win and 3 points in the bag – job done for World Pinteur.

Match 2 in Group B was an all-French affair. There was a Gallic takeover of Group B with 3 of the first 4 teams in action hailing from France which was a first in eurofootballfives.com competition. The two teams set to start their campaigns were The A Team and Les 5 Salopards.

The A Team had appeared here before at the 2016 Prague Tournament which was played on the grass field as opposed to the artificial turf we were playing on today. They enjoyed 3-0 wins over Professional Czech Team and Fiorentina Turner, won 3-1 against Wafty Crankers and 1-0 against 50 Shades of O'Shea. They finished second in Group B behind CIS Committee (Blr) who they lost 2-1 to. They went on to the Cup Semi-Finals where they exited the tournament at the hands of Team Extreme (4-1).

Today, they fell behind to Les 5 Salopards who lead through Nadir Tarbi. The A Team were level through Charly Miampu and then went ahead when Miampu struck again. Les 5 Salopards managed to recover and find an equaliser themselves with Naim Tarbi on target. There was still time for a winner and it was Fateh Bekhouche who scored it. Final score, 3-2 to The A Team.

Due to some transport delays we had to have a little reshuffle of the fixtures so instead of FC Poloboc versus FC Tpaktop we now had World Pinteur versus FC Tpaktop as we switched those fixtures around. It meant World Pinteur would quickly be in action again having warmed up in game 1.

World Pinteur won their Their last Veterans appearance was at the 2023 Mallorca Veterans where they were simply brilliant in the group phase. They defeated Los Amblos (4-0), Trojans (4-0), Legends of the Vale (4-1) and Southgate Tourists (4-1) as they won Group D with a 100% record. They were well fancied going into the knockout phase where they met FC Poloboc and drew 1-1. The Moldovan team won 3-0 on penalties and World Pinteur Mature were eliminated even though they were unbeaten in normal time.

They'd already begun with a win here and were soon on course for victory #2. Richard Leibovici got the ball rolling before Adrien Maurel scored his first of the tournament. Eric Lemoisson scored twice in their opening fixture and was on target again to make it 3-0. Aleksandr Tabunsic scored FC Tpaktop II's first goal of the day but it proved to be a mere consolation in the context of this game.

World Pinteur were our early leaders in Group B.
